Big Rigs Talk about other Cummins powered vehicles here. As a matter of fact, it doesn't even have to be Cummins, but it will be diesel! :)

3126 / C7 CAT vs Cummins C Series

Looking for a Freightshaker FL70 to transplant my 1960 Dodge cab and body on to. Want to turn it up a little bit, but not too much, and was wondering what all of ya'll had to say about these mid sized motors.

The cat is a little smaller so it might fit better. I would rather have the cummins though because the Cat is a Heui injection and I don't like those.

Go Cummins, but they are harder to find. If you go Cat get the higher HP one, the lower HP models have different internals so they are harder to turn up.

I would say go cummins, more out there for them. I have a 3126E in a FL60 rated for 300hp. Its nice but could use some more power, I bought a TS chip or aka (fancy resistor) IMO WORST $600 i have ever spent. That chip was a big load of crap. But I have propain on it now so its all good. If I was you I would look for a 3116 wich is 6.6L cat or a 8.3L cummins with mechinical injection. Easy to turn up.

3126 is junk....JMO and experience from use.

Depends if you can find a Cat 3126B or C-7 INDUSTRIAL, then get it...
You might shop for a Cat 6.6L HPCR also....

Avoid the 3126E. I am going on 6 years with one rated at 330hp and can't wait until it dies or gets traded in. Gutless wonder with no good way to turn it up.
