11R22.5 vs. 295/75R22.5
11R22.5 vs. 295/75R22.5
It looks like the main difference is about 0.39" the section width and the ability to run a 9" rim on the 295/75R22.5 or a 7.5" rim on the 11R. Any advantages to running on over the other assuming that the rim will handle either? Looking for a steer tire for a Class A motor home.
the 11R 22.5 (standup) is about 2 or 3 inches taller than the 295/75R22.5 (low pro) both will work on your rims but you would want to run the same sizes front and back for the suspension to work proper and if you need to rotate
Handling wise, you might be a bit better off with a standard 22.5 (11r). A little more sidewall to absorb the bumps. Best thing to watch for with otr tires is ply rating, don't get a 16 ply tire, they will be extremely stiff, and you dont need em. If the motor home has lo-pro's on it now, and you would decide to get 11r's, make sure you got the clearance, I've changed quite a few rv tires that barely have the room to get the tires out of the wheel wells, or even have to wiggle em around and tilt em to clear the skirting. I advise a steer with some siping on the shoulders of the tread, we've had a lot of problems with cupping on solid shouldered steers, like the B.S. R260's. A good choice for an RV would be a Goodyear G395. Michelin makes a good steer, too, I just can't think of the model name off hand. I see a lot of Mich's on buses
