I just yanked the D80 out of the dually tonight, so my wrenching for the weekend is over. Might swap it in next weekend, or I may wait till after shutdown. Gonna be at Brett's place tomorrow plywooding his garage walls. He's a sissy and can't do it by himself.

might have a location for us!
I might be able to arrange a location for us in Red Deer. I've talked to Erik @ Altitude Adjustments about a GTG in the past. He has a new shop now which would be a heck of a good place to meet!

Mines stock and boring as well. Dodge really did us a favor and put one of the weakest transmission ever behind a diesel. I have had a collection of parts for my 2010 just collecting dust since I bought the truck. Even dropped off a spare RFE68, but the transmission shop couldn't guarantee that it could hold anymore than 500rwhp, even with all the wizzy sun coast paper thin shafts.
Tate, I have a 3/4in imperial socket set with that socket size in the kit.
I'm game for a GTG anytime. Red Deer works well for most of us.

Dodge still has the auto trans problem...I thought in the new dodges, they finally got a trans that could handle the torque of the diesels..
Does Dmax have auto trans problems???

Dave, the stock dodge transmission is built well enough to handle the power/torque of a stock 6.7L. Once you start getting above 500rwhp you start to see the transmission weak points. The 4th gen truck for dodge has been a really good product, my truck the only issue has been a ripped driver seat cover. Other than that its been a decent reliable stock truck. For guys wanting to modify their power output, the only real fix is to install a 48RE and an electronic controller. Really the only weak point is the converter holding power for really really big power guys (like guys pushing 1600rwhp numbers).
The stock Allison is a decent transmission, has similar gear ratio and holding power as the stock RFE68. The real benefit is that you can beef it up to decent holding power, but doing so isn't cheap. Our local transmission guy feels he can build one to hold 1000rwhp reliably.
Dodge is supposed to be coming out at some point with an eight trans, out a commercial line-up.

Tate, you are right in that it has been a while. Life gets busy at times and it has been busy... I will try to make an appearance at the next event to catch up on the latest and greatest. Cheers.

I am still alive although you wouldn't know it by my appearances around here in the last while. I think I have one of those sockets as well in my collection of stuff if you need one Shane-still owe you something for the tow off 21 way back when...
Sold my black '02 finally, although I got to work on it this morning again just for fun. Took an '02 1500 as partial trade so it's the project now, then a Dakota, then an '05 CTD with a bad motor that's getting a 6.7. Started a new job last week that's going to suck up a lot of my time, but from a financial standpoint, it's nice to be back working full time again.
