If your getting 1100km to a tank from a 6.7 then I think it is time to trade in my truck and get me a new one. The last time I seen 1100km on a tank was my 03 when it was new prior to the dealership touching it.

on my 03, with just a edge juice on it and afe intake, I could drive from Grande Prairie to Medicine Hat on 1 tank at 120ish KMh everytime. But it was very particular about what fuel got put in it. I filled up another time to go to Cranbrook, normally a 1 tank drive, bought the fuel from a Petro Canada, didnt make it, not even close. Filled up there from a Fas Gas, made it all the way back no problem, have never bought fuel from a Petro Canada since. I could also tell if I didnt have really good fuel by the sound of the engine.. really needed to keep up on the fuel additive with that truck.

With my Ford, completely stock, I am getting around 700 km per tank (100l tank) to and from work and around town. On a pure highway trip I can go just a bit over 800 km. (havent pushed it right close to empty though

Could go with a 10 truck, they put in a larger 134L fuel tank. Nice ride and the heat/cool seats are sweet buddy. I had one tank go 880km mark, I was using miles. Once the dpf/egr is fix it is one nice package. Of course you guys didn't need to know that. The exhaust brake is very nice as well if you tow. I put nearly 7000km on the truck in the last few weeks

My 03 will notice crappy fuel right away as well. Can usually offset with additives, but the sound, response and range all change for the worse.
Have gone through my share of injectors (thanks again winkdemon for the last repairs) as well. Overall though, I have been happy with the motor. The tranny on the other hand really sucks. The 48RE really doesnt handle extra power and hunts alot pulling heavy in the hills. IMO the tranny is the weak link in the 03.

If i was looking for a new one, it would be a 6.7 with the newer trannies.

I don't think the 03-07 5.9L Common rails are different enough to make any significant difference. Even the early 03-04 SO CR engines are fine.

Each year of the 5.9CR's have their quirks. Just buy the best truck you can find. I would recommend a 6 speed manual over any 48RE trans but that's just me & that would be much harder to find. IMO, if he does buy a used auto trans Cummins, he better have extra $$$$ for a tranny upgrade.

The 6.7L's are a whole different game & category but the aftermarket has really evolved on those engines. A good stock 6.7L with either a 6 speed manual or 6 speed auto would be a excellent truck after a full desmog & programmer to support it all.

Theres another guy on here with a 6.7 that is getting the same as I am. He isup in Stoon. Keep in mind thats at what I call a snails pace. 60 mph. If I go over that, even to 65 it starts to drop. At 70...all bets are on the 5.9. And...those are my best tanks with average of 900 usually.
Crosswinds will knock it down too.
75 is a nice cruising speed in this truck but...I am lucky to see high 14 mpg at that speed. I wonder if its the trans or what that hits it that hard on the mpg compared to a 5.9?

I really push my truck when I go back home to Sask...min of 75 MPH on the Trans Canada..Truck is up there in RPM with the 4.10 gears.

I have sent my friend a email to create a account on DTR,that he could decide on which CR he wants and how far he wants to go on mods..

Do I have that too?
I was wondering once I was low but no light yet and I filled up 128.9L, thought the pump was off I use only Shell usually Flying J, found that other stations fuel mileage went to shat. Mind you I only tried superstore and another one and that was with my 08 MC
The exhaust brake with lift and 305's is really sweet now, use it all the time and it's now smooth..........
About mileage, I never cared to hand calculate it, best I got on comp was 10.2L/100K, now it seems stuck at 17......Haven't done any long drives lately and I unplugged the EGR at the dealership
Darn pix won't upload....

I'd say it's the gear ratio, my RPM's 0n 3.42/G56 really went down with the 305's, like to keep iy at 1700=110km/h on 6th

Lol I don't think so, the 47 and 48RE tranny can be built to with hold a lot of power, the new 68RFEs, ummmm not so much lol. The first thing I'd be doing with a 6.7 would be converting it to a 48RE if I was gonna build any kinda power with it.

just watch for blowby in 4.5 and 05s, talking to guys when my truck blew its engine the rings seem to be a common problem in those years. I would have bought an old 12 valve if i did it agian for sure
