Well the old girl got new shoes this morning. It was a little earlier than I planned but it wasn't my choice.

Heading into town this morning, the truck in front of me swerved to miss something on the road but clipped it instead and I couldn't avoid a moving target. Ended up being a chunk of plate steel about the size of a typical magazine with roughly a 3 inch bend on one side. I missed it with the front but tagged it with the rear and cut the tire wide open.

Ended up at Fountain Tire in Sundre. Their 4 for 3 sale is on but the only truck tire on sale was the Goodyear Silent Armors. Nice tire but not aggressive enough for what I need. But they had the Goodyear Duratracs on special for $40 off so I went with those. Ended up being $1200 installed. And to boot, they are Load Range E with a 3750 lb load rating.

Yes I could have put a cheaper tire on it but $1200 was what I was figuring for an amount. Crappy Tire would have cost me about the same if I went there anyways

They are a nice tire. A little squirmy right now as I'm not used to really having any tread on the old tires. I have talked to a few people that run these and they are approaching 100,000 kms so it's looking good mileage wise, time will tell.

Just have to figure out the tire pressures to get them to run flat. With all the rain we have had this last week, I guess I see what they do down in the field this afternoon in the muck. I would be stuck in wet grass with the old ones.

You won't get stuck with the duratracs. They are the best all around tire I've ever run.

Still a fan of the BFG ATKO's. They have been a good tire for me on and off road in the snow and ice. Not stellar on wet pavement, but cut into the snow when it matters. I usually only get 50-60,000 km out of a set, and I do rotate.

I need a set right now, but have been considering the Bridgestone Dueller REVO2's for the next set..

Well they do dig, that is for sure!

I went down into the lower part of property to fix a section of fence where normally I usually use the quad and don't even think about using the truck.

She digs pretty good I will say. Never had to use 4wd, rear drive only and she chugged out of there easily.

The 16 year old in me wanted to see what kind of roost they would put out but momma said "Don't even think about it!"

Jeff

Just hit the throttle and say WHOOPS while watching in the side mirror.

I will be 'ok' in MEGA Mega with my Ameritracs...thats if Lil Dog stops making me do burnouts when he comes to visit. LOL
At 9200 pounds I should be ok in most situations. I have considered getting a spare set of dually wheels for the truck with those ...uhh whatcha call them 255/80/17's? Are they BFG too? I heard they are very reasonable to purchase in Minot and we plan to go there before Christmas.

Hi Jeff.

Whatever it was it was all accidental. Yeah thats it.

So what are those pizza cutters called that come in an E rated 255/80/R17?

I have seen posts about them but so far I have been too lazy to use the search mode.

Jeff, my wife has known me for 42 yrs and she just kinda shakes her head when smoke and rocks fly and the truck just sits still.

So... these pizza cutters... Are they the same diameter as the stock tires, and if so, do you see a fuel economy improvement from the reduced rolling resistance?

I've been eyeing up those bfgs for a while now but im concerned about how they'll do on the highway between fort mac and edmonton. Im sure a studded set would be the way to go but I would really rather not buy another set of rims.
