wet sleeves
wet sleeves
OK... I have been a diehard cummins fan. My old boy's blowup made me consider other options. I've been looking at building an old truck for fun. So... I'm looking at a wet sleeve (or possibly dry sleeve) engine instead of the beloved BT. For wet sleeve the DT 466 or DT 360 engine. I'd rather have a slightly smaller engine, so 4cyl. Given I want sleeved, no BT, so options? Hino has a dry sleeve 4, but I'd still prefer a decent wet... Any thoughts or suggestions?
Yes, truck selection is partially dependent on engine, but leaning towards 38/39 ford or a "real" power wagon...

Mechanical 466's are pretty Edit when done up, big following in the tractor pulling. Plus, they are p-pumped, so what works on a cummins will work for them as well.

Holy crap, those 4's are big... Aiming for something similar in output to a gen1. I guess I have to lean towards the Hino.
Tate - the 466 is just a tad big for where I'm aiming... That would have to be a different truck... Although everything I've read on them is pretty cool... If I do up a truck with an engine that large, I definitely want tilt front end for maintenance... Come to think of it, I wouldn't mind it if my truck was tilt front end... Hmmm.
