Couple of LM2500's up on the hill now taking place of this pig iron.

 

They actually running the Lm2000's? They been there for so long, with no gas to run. They bought a bunch of derated LM2500's. I worked on tons of LM2500 packages over the years.

That a nice job, I always liked the city of Kamloops. They still have the Solar Saturn gen set? Nice lake across the road, just behind the junk yard.

I have pictures of the LM machines from start-up. I've worked for Westcoast before, all up/down the transmission line.

 

Solar is still their back-up. Did you ever see the old TCPL trailer booster? It's supposed to be the same gas generator as what they used on the Avro Arrow. I'll try and get a pic of it this weekend.

At least the weather here is a little warmer than at home. Good thing 'cause the heats off.

DRD, So you guys decommisioning the old girl? I know that Spectra pulled out a dressor recip out of Pine Lake Station earlier this year.

I got to work on the LM1600 there. I know that Spectra at least has gas now, for years they had no gas. Been working at alot of plants with almost no gas, lots things don't like that to much.

We did Hope, Willow Flats (Pine) and this staion. Quesnel is next. I think we bought 7 or 8 engines (Clarks) for parts.

 

Wow, you guys will have parts similar to the bone yards in Tx. That's a lot of Clarks. The engine looked in pretty good shape.

So, how the heck are you going to fit that under the hood of your truck? I may be new to turbos but I can't image that is going to spool very quicly either..

Been a few years since I worked on one of those engines. Orenda had a bad habit of lighting off very very hard. Sometimes it would blow the windows out of the building. We used to have a service rep that would set the orenda light-off so its was loud. Seen enough of them with big holes in the combustor cans. Back in the Nova days, we had a welder that all he did was repair orenda cans. Those engine burn more fuel than what they pushed. We had one station that would actual decrease pressure when running.

We had a few Rolls Avons that would throw blades. Seen a few train wrecks, seen a few blade stuck in walls.

 

Hit it with over 75K Cu/in and the turbos spool rather nice.

Yeah Mike, no one here liked to start the Orenda. At least you knew when it lit

 

Few pics of the block being split off the base.
Empty base was near 80K lbs, no crankshaft. Each upper block stripped weighed in around 50K lbs each.
