Vintage Compression

Couple pics of some old iron we're tearing down. Also a few pics of a large Nordberg driving a DeLaval centrif. you don't see very often.

Thats pretty wild stuff, I like the looks of the side valves on the compressor. Must be pretty old vintage iron stuff. Looks like its in Canada somewhere? What speed does the centrifugal run at?

I used to work on gas turbine/centrifugals, some turn at 22000rpm's. Must have done 20+ years of that stuff.

You guys rebuilding or dismantling?

They are out west of Kamloops, old WET line. We're tearing them completely out and cherry picking parts.
Yep, Jason TCV's.
I'll post more pics as they come down. We've had two Hytorq's running non stop for the last couple days getting everything hot bolted and ready for some heavy lifting. I think I hear the rattle of the 1" impact in my sleep.

TCV's are pretty rare around these parts. Sounds like fun to me, but I like tinkering with them while they run..LOL.. TCV-16, man that would be close to 4500 hp right?

I think these are around 7500 HP at 360 rpm. We only made around 12 of this particular sub-model. Pretty heathy turbo's sitting out back. Looks more like an expander than a charger.

Here's the Nordbergs lined up then the TCV's sunk into the basement. I think this plant was commisioned in the 50's.

na we never had any like that. Westcoast/Duke/Spectra Energy that had a few of them. We had Clarks V-16 stuff, all driving recip compressors.

Pretty old stuff, its has to be transmission stuff, production guys would have replaced it with something newer. The cost in fuel gas would have been a killer. Spectra runs lots of old stuff in their fleet. Most transmission outfits don't pay for their fuel gas, so they don't care about how much gas it burns. I think Sanova had four of the norburgs (station #7). I haven't been to a N station or a north line station yet for Spectra.
