If you want to do it almost as cheap as that, but a little bit better, we can tig a flange to your existing exhaust manifold, and then you can put an external gate with the hx-35. If you want to go just better then that, you can get the 60mm upgrade wheel for the hx-35 from gillette diesel for ~$200. Any better then that and you are into a new secondary, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. Lots of options once you go into a new secondary, but also more $$$.
For ~ $1000, you could do the cheap version of twins, and they would do what you asked, and have lots of room to upgrade into.

If you want to do it as cheap as possible... Keep the hx-35 and drill the wastegate out to 15/16"s or so all the way through the dividers and then put an S475 under it. Those can be had new for ~$600-800. Will spool close to where it does now, and have enough for 550-600ish, if you move to a bigger secondary you will be good for ~700ish with that primary.

I have a S475 available, no probs and most of the exhaust pieces and air tubes. Some used and new parts. What you doing with the oil pan? Its on a pre 98 12v right? I will need the HX turbo, to get it modified. We can do most of it ourselves, just that gate flapper has to seal-up, or nothing works.

Would you guys stop talking about twins?!! You're going to affect my bank account!
Tate was nice enough to take me for a ride in his newly twinned dually last Sunday.
Similar to Brad's truck, it so nice to watch the boost come up smoothly without spiking instantly like mine does & not having to worry about the pyro gauge.
Tate's truck really pulls hard, it's fun fishtailing on dry pavement with his dually!
Plus he did a really nice job of fitting & piping for a great looking set of twins.
I just wish I knew a tenth of what Tate, Brett, Mike H. & Kevin M. do about turbos...

Ya we have a few new neat tricks on the go, the trick is finding time to get it all done. The next set we do, there will be no hose clamps, just v-bands. A few compressor/turbine housing adjustments to increase flow. Might try a few a crazy off the wall idea's as well.

I am out in Forestburg now, have a couple days off, but will be here till the end of June or beginning of July. I'm gonna take my dually to the dyno in RD once I get the oil leak taken care of and the 13mm pump on, everyone will be more than welcome to come hang out. I'll let you (and everyone else) know when, I'll take you for a burn then.
