Tint question

Just wondering how many of you guys run dark tint and if so do you have problems getting pulled over? I am really thinking I want 5% all the way around, see tons of vehicle around with it or darker, but I don't want tickets. I have no problems now with getting pulled over, unless i'm speeding Also can you guys recommend a place to get in done in Edmonton? One place I went to last fall wanted $500 for 15% front, 5% rest which seems steep to me, they said the rear slider counts as 3 windows

I was quoted $155(US dollars)for 3M film and $95 or Johnson film I believe. I do not have a rear slider.

I cannot remember exactly what I have on the driver and passenger windows - it is fairly dark though - the back doors and rear window are limo. I had it done at a rice burner place just West of Buzz Boxliners, on 107 Street, North side of 107th. They did a good job for less than half of what you were quoted.

Apparently, instead of solving the body dumping issues near Sherwood Park, the RCMP there have time to hassle people for tint traveling to Sherwood Park Archery.........not that I would know.

I was also looking to get some tint on my truck and was quoted for my rear slider as 4 windows. So I never got it done. I was reading a local rice rocket form and read that Garage Works in Edmonton does pretty good work along with Malcoms. Maybe one day I will tint out my vechical. I was talking with some shops and they will only tint the front windows to however dark they feel like, because doing the front windows is illegal.

I got my stuff done in GP at supertint. I believe I paid less for that, cash is good! I went with dark on the back, and I think it was 35 on the sides,, only once did I ever get bothered

I know it's illegal but I don't care to worried about someone breaking in. Ya I heard macloms was good but seemed like some places don't want to do trucks. Sure be nice to get them done for like 300. If a cop wants to pull someone over for tint I don't think it matters how dark it is.

Well, we got to keep you city boys out of the Park... The RCMP have nothing to do out there - they will nail you for whatever they feel like, after they are finished doing doughnuts

I wouldn't pay more than $250 for your truck. There is a place on ebay that sells pre-cut window tint any shade you want, I got a kit for $50 including the 3-piece rear window, and installed it myself, pretty easy when it is pre-cut.

That is a good idea, and that way if I get a ticket I don't loose much removing it from the front windows. Was it that bad to install I know you have to clean the window very well but how hard to put the tint on? For that price I would probably put double 5% on back windows and slider.

I have tried putting tint on. Its not a fun job and it looks simple, but its not. I got bubbles and didn't leave enough of a ridge for all the water mix to get out. Not to mention unless its good quality film, it just fades. I got my little car done when I was much younger. They did the entire car for $200, 5 windows and the back window was 3 pieces. However they said when I picked it up, If I could see the seams from the outside, they would give me $50. I lost! I think it was called SuperTint.

I will never do it myself again.

Ya I know it's a lot of work. Phoned Malcoms, they said just under $300 so might as well get them to do it. Heard a ton of good reviews about them. The price sure sounded a lot better then $500 I got before Can't see myself bothering with it to save $200 when I know they will do a much better job and warranty it for life.

Depends on the officer,i choose not too because my 2001 tends to draw cops to it like "flies on sh$t".Last time i was pulled over on my way to work at 3:00AM cause my Blue LEDS on the running boards were the wrong colorAmber/Red only--------"Yes Sir" i change them out just for you after my shift----not a chance. He did comment on my ride/check out my truck and ask a few questions. He was quite surprise at my age(figured he was pulling over some young buck to teach him a lesson). Also counted all nine of my gauges and made a comment about them obstructing my vision while driving-YADDA/YADDA/YADDA.Let this be a warning to you.A buddy of mine had a choice with his tint------150.00 buck fine and remove on the spot-----OR if you refuse to remove,we tow the vehicle/give you the ticket and now your on the hook for towing/impound charges-----He removed the tint-----depends on the pr$ck---i mean officer.DW

Tint on the front door windows looks great but it's hard to live with.

Not great at nite. It will scratch easily no matter how careful you are. The up & down of the windows will chew it up.
It will look like heck in a short time. Plus the legalities & the risk of a fine.

Not worth it IMO. On my last truck I did the top 3 inches of the front door windows.
That worked good as a sun block & was a good compromise.

i hav 5% and love it lol people cant see in at alllllll. i got done by someone else i wouldnt my self to do it cuz if u fig up its a job to pull it off. i payed 200 for mine and anything more than 250 like buddy said above is pushing it plus some places give warrenty. as for the cops if ur an ick to them then yes there going to look for reasons to give u a ticket for tinted windows. i been pulled over few times and they never said a thing but i was nice to them to and in the summer when its warm and i see cop i put the windows down lol just in case theres a ick cop around and wants to give tickets for the fun of it. i got a pic of the windows on what it looks like ill post soon

The only time i've ever been pulled over is for a laser radar ticket so I don't have problems with that. I pretty much never put my windows down, never drive with them down. I am going to tint the fronts for sure just was undecided on how dark. I figure might as well go 5% instead of 15% or 20% because if they want to ticket me they will no matter how dark they are

I like people not being able to look in, really don't want people to see what's inside.
