SweetGrass MT Pick up

I am planning to buy a Redhead Steering Box and have it delivered to SweetGrass MT, and ship my core back from there.

Someone is planning to go there to pick his stuff? I can also bring your order back here

I did mine door to door. From red head via USPS/Canada post. its not that much. saves the hassle.

border patrol is getting very sticky on other people bringing good back over that belong to someone else.

They wants 110$ for shipping for the steering box. After that I need to add the return cost for my core.
Shipped to the borders, they ask 60$ for roundtrip shipping including the return of my core. I might also grab a set of nerf bars at the same time to make the trip worth it.

Thanks for the offer Pry-P. When are you planning to head down?

I have brought several things back from Sweetgrass for others with no issues.
They emailed Montana Shipping Outlet to let them release the package to me & also emailed me the invoice paperwork.

I added their invoice to my list of invoices & never had an issue.
One does have to pick up numerous things to make it worthwhile, fuel and time spent.
Even with my truck fully loaded including the interior & a stack of invoices, the border guys have never hindered me.

The only minor issue I ever had was that I did not add up all the invoices before I went to the Cdn border crossing.
I gave an approximation of the total at the drive up window & the guy was not happy. He wanted an EXACT amount.
He sent me inside where I added the invoices up & presented that.
Now I add up everything ahead of time to the penny before going to the border crossing.

Don't forget your passport!

I'm planning in the next few saturdays. They are open only on the 1st saturday of each month, but they can open by appointment after normal hours for a 10$ fee I think.

They are getting way more sticky now that they increased the amount you could bring back...They use to take your word on products made in the USA..Now they are checking where its built..They find the box "made in China" bang...Duty time...Hope like heck the box is not made in China..

I'm good thanks. I did a Eureka, Montana run this winter while skiing in Fernie.
There is a Montana Shipping Outlet in Eureka also.

I must have that innocent look as I have been lucky. As recently as last September I had no issues picking up an item for another member.

As always I don't volunteer any unnecessary information. "All automotive parts from the USA" is what I always say. "From" not "made" in the USA which is completely true.
I've never had anyone scrutinize my paperwork very closely nor come out & check over my goods.

I am not foolish though. eg. Nokian tires, Enkei wheels, Chinese noodles, etc. I fully declare & pay duty on the clearly obvious stuff!!

LOL, I had forgotten about your little "adventure" as Canada's most wanted!

They likely have your picture hanging on the wall at Canada Customs in Sweetgrass!!

It also works well if you put the name of the guy picking it up for you as the 'ship to' address … and use your own info for billing.

Do you have an extra steering box, or are you planning a swap in the parking lot of MSO??

For now the trip there is on hold as I bought a new seal for the leakin input shaft (20$).
I'll change it probably tonight and see what happens. The box itself is still in good shape minus that seal, so I'll try to save some $$ and extend its life.

My plan was to remove my old box here, drive to the border with the GF's TDI and come back with the new box and a set of universal nerf bars.
But I'll wait to see if that new seal holds good.

If I get anough stuff to order for myself and others I might still go.

if the seals right gone on the sector shaft, the bearings probably got too much play.

It is on the input shaft, I changed the seal yesterday. So far it hasnt leaked yet. I'll see if it lasts. I do have a bit of play in the input shaft though.

Hi all, wondered if anyone new about the case licquor special at Sweetgrass Duty Free? If you buy at least one case of 12- 40 oz of mix and match bottles from their list, pay the duty and gst. There is a limit at customs of 36 bottles per person I think. Works out to around $22 per bottle, very close to 1/2 price!
I have used Montana shipping for a couple of years in Eureka as 2 of our kids have cabins there and somewone is there almost every weekend. They are open the first and third Saturday. Have never had a problem there.
