Not sure about this one, still available or not, but if someone needs parts.

Have seen this guy selling lots of wrecked diesel pickups, might want to check him out.

Ow.....Just in parts for the grill and bumper would cost the insurane company $3700...I know someone who had to do it...Sure doesn't take much to bend the frame...When MMckee was hunting Audi he tweaked his frame a bit...The Audi lost...

My deer hit resulted in $6400 damage and it looks better than the truck in the picture and all my damage is just cosmetic, no mechanical.

Put it this way, I wouldn't be picking up a truck like that to repair it.

Parts only.

I might like these trucks, but not enough to bother repairing one that is more than a couple years old. If it is only cosmetic, even like that one, a "buff right out" fix, it just isn't worth it, you can get a lot of truck, and much newer, for less money and hassles.

For parts though. When buying used, I look at the tires and the battery. If the tires are good, and the battery (batteries) as well. Then if the engine runs well. its worth the price just for the parts. otherwise, lump it.

That truck is over priced. You could buy one for that much money with no damage, IMO. Someone is gold digging.

Yeah

Well, in my neck of the woods, right now, 97's with 300+k on them are still asking, and getting 14 - 15K.

Even parts trucks are overpriced.

I have yet to see a decent deal on a diesel pickup. Lots of good prices on fords with powerstrokes, and the occasional good deal on a Dmax, but nothing with a diesel sells cheap.

Let me know where you find this stuff, I need an engine for my 01 550

unless it's a wicked price i think your better off getting a not damaged truck.

You looking for want a low mileage 2001 24V. I have one available.

I can even put a new oring head, mach 6er's, cam into it if you want. Set of twins available as well, you just pick the combo you want. Everything is just sitting there waiting there chance at burning some fuel. Throw on some new paint, as good.

One word Auction, trucks go for a lot less. Was just there this weekend 05-06diesels are only about 16-20k with around 100-150km. And this auction was easily 10-15% higher prices then the last one. Prices have dropped a bit, but still a nice truck gets a fortune. That is overpriced though, you could buy that truck in running shape for that pretty much.

Therein sits the problem

You buy a complete truck for 5900 bucks, or a used engine with reasonable miles for 4500 bucks. May as well get the whole parts bin with the engine.

Once again, someone will tell me that they can get complete running engines for 500 bucks, or something along those lines, but in all honesty, I haven't seen a deal like that outside of happy hour for a LOT of years.

As far as the ford goes, I don't need any toys, just a running engine. Even down 3 cylinders, it would have more jam than the 7.3 that's in there. You get spoiled by the bottom end of the I-6 engines, and that's all there is to it.

You could get a good used 24v engine for around $2500. The extra speed parts is what costs the $$$. At $4500, that should be one almost new engine. I would put in a 12v, they are allot cheaper than the 24v, but then you have to live with the fact that you have a 12v under the hood

At $500 the engine might be one well used motor, and would be still sitting under the hood of the truck. Just a little brake clean and some new paint, you get a brand new engine (spray can overhaul)

Ok, I have yet to see anywhere that I can pick up a running 12 or 24v engine for less than 4k. anywhere.

and no, those are not low mile engines, those are all 250k plus engines. And no speed parts either. Stock take outs.

I've been in the heavy equipment repair business since 1984, and working off the back of a truck for the majority of that time. I have yet to see any diesel engine, complete and running, go cheap unless the guy is desperate for coin. That said, I am never in a situation to see that. Lucky me.

Like I said, you can show me an engine with lots of go fast parts, and to me, it is an engine, with some pretty features. It might get some people's hearts going, but not mine so much. I spend a lot of time in the bush, where reliability is key, and 1/4 mile times can be measured in hours. Or in lengths of winch cable on the back of a dozer.

I also run in some nasty cold conditions. This is where the cummins shines through. It actually starts. Not like the powerstroke.

Anyway, I am probably getting way off track
