Road trip

Well as a few of you know Me and the wife took a road trip down to San Diego. The truck ran really good and I have some #'s for you.

Total distance 3337 miles
Total fuel used 232 gallons (Slip tank, so it is a educated guess)
Speeding ticket in Montana 20 bucks (was doing 87 in a 75 zone)Tropper liked the truck, brought down the ticket to 10 over instead of 13.
Average speed between Vegas and San Bernadino 90 mph
Average speed the whole trip around 82mph

Works out to 14.3 mpg, not to bad for a set of 37's

Intersate 15 is a nice ride. Alot of truck traffic, but they are helpfull on the radio. Traffic really thins out north of Salt lake City.

To all those people who cannot merge on the deerfoot. Please do not drive in So-Cal, Not saying so-cal had bad drivers, I am saying that bad drivers from Alberta will just get ran off the road. Bumper to bumper 65 miles a hour down I-15 from LA to San Deigo on friday night would bring tears to some calgary drivers.

All in all a good trip.

Two thumbs up for the USS Midway museum. Great tour, even got a souviner bump on my head. In 1945 they didn't think about a 6'3" man, or didn't care.

Also two thumbs up for the football game, Charges and colts. Chargers lost but if you have never been to a sunday night football game. What a blast!

Had alot of fun and met alot of good people.

$20 for 10mph over ticket. That would be around $100 here, no?

Did you bring back a turbo?

No, the receivables did not come in to the office in time, so I had a tight budget for the trip.

So did you get the truck out and play in the sand Sounds like an awesome trip. I did one with my 300c srt down to San Fran area. I average 85+ mph for mostly. I really like the road just south of port land. Talk about one straight, four lane with no traffic. I most have did 120 mph for 15 minutes. What a rush. They americans have way better highways than us northerns. Gave me a chance to stretch out the 300c. What a great way to breakin a new car.

Ouch Rob. You know if you had a 6spd you could get milage like mine. Im not braggin or nothin but doing 75-85mph i can get 20-25mpg by hand.Im averaging about 700 to 85L or diesel.

The slip tank is going to screw with the #'s a bit I am not going to pull all the receipts to find out. The only way your truck is getting 25 is by putting a sail on it and catching the wind downhill to sask.

No offense, but I call BS

I believe him, I was getting 1400km to a tank with my truck if I kept the speed down to around 110kmh. Which equates to around 26 27 MPG. Of course that was before I put in the big injectors. The 03's got considerably better mileage than the newer trucks

Rob, how much driving did you do each day? You must have found some sand to play in down there. I've always wanted to do that drive with my truck. Enjoy buddy.

15 hours to salt lake, 12 hrs the next day to San Deigo. On the way back we took our time and meandered to Vegas stayed there for a couple days. Then we did vegas to pocetallo Idaho in 12 hours and then the last leg was 10 hours.

As for the dirt, didn't do that much of it.Everybody eles on I-15 had a spotless truck. By the time I got to salt lake I was tired of having the dirtiest truck on the road and hit a car wash before we left for San deigo. I was getting the grief from my wife as I was trying to buff up the rims.

At least you didn't need two vehicles to come home. Did you have good weather all the way down? You could have came back up on the coast. The drive is abit windy, but the view of the ocean and the big red tree is worth the extra time is takes. You get in any tequila sampling

Drunk all day Sunday for tailgate party and football game. Weather was good, Speaking of wind, both times we went thru northern montana and southern alberta the wind was pretty strong. Need to do that west coast trip one day.

I know a corvette club that out of calgary that goes for a week long rip. That sure would be interesting with all the characters I have met in this alberta chapter. Bunch of Dodges heading to vegas with somebody pulling Mikes truck. LMAO, I am sorry man, did I just say that?

Well thats just what im workin out off what im spending on fuel. I seem to be about to go about 4 to 5 days on a tank and thats driving about 200km+ a day and all hwy. I know my 03 gets way better milage than the night shifts 06. He's lucky to get 600/tank(about 110L). So unless im doing math wrong im still getting good milage. You also got to remeber mine is a 6spd and the manuals get better milage than the autos. Also Im only reving at 1750@115km/h. But call it all you want.

P.S. I also have the lockouts on the front, i got some good mpg's since there is not so much stuff turning in the front end.
