retorque
retorque/clutch
Finally got to retorque the A1's and romp on it....

Very happy with the o-ring, port/polish job, however, now seriously overpowering my clutch.
I have to go inside and see if it is truly a con fe.
There were parts missing when I recieved the clutch two years ago as the package was tampered with. I had a quick look at the clutch before the install and could swear I saw some copper flakes/strands in it.
I didn't really know what to look for and now realize an fe should have a solid grey color and no flakes of copper because flakes indicate an organic clutch..
When it was pulled a couple of months after that I didn't really see any strands but maybe that was because there was some miles on it and it was dirty???
Anyway, as I have twins planned I probably should upgrade to a DD.
If its got the wrong clutch in it now, I will be in for a credit as Peter at SB/Rip at Source gave one for the missing throw out bearing two years ago.
Question is, should I also get the $400.00, 1 3/8" oversize input and HD hydraulics? What power level are these req'd at?
Should I get the $1100.00 dd 3600 as its the same price as the dd 3250?
Thoughts?
When's the next dyno day? The clutch seems to hold in the upper rev range better than below 2k. I heard if a clutch is going to let go it'll do it in 4th and 5th rather than earlier. Mine's the opposite. Shrug...
Another thanks to Kev for the use of your place.

It will slip first in the higher gears since thats where the most load is. Sure you're just not spinning your tires?
I'd go with the 3600 clutch. From what I've heard, the new ones are very similar to how my 3250 drive, and for the same price, go heavier. You could probably get away with stock hydraulics if you want. I upgraded at the same time on both trucks just to get it out of the way.
I'd like to see a dyno event somewhere around February or so. Martin is moving shops in the beginning of the new year, so that should give him some time to get set up.

Thanks Tate.
I only heard the tires squak of the line for about ten feet then, as I sped up, the clutch would let go in 2nd gear. I'd let off to let it grab again, it would then be ok in 3rd until about 1700 rpm when it'd slip again...
It felt like, that it I punched it at 1k rpm in 4th or 5th , it'd hold. I didn't get a chance to try that, I ran out of time for the test... Snow on the road next morning so testing was oveeeer...the road was clean and dry the night before.
And thoughts on the inputs?

I upgraded both of mine, but when I bought my first DD, the upgraded input was required. I don't think it is neccesary, but its not gonna hurt anything. But it is a fair chunk of change. I guess it depends on how much you are willing to spend.

strange play with it more, at these temps my truck would spin in 2nd and 3rd in a way that could feel like a slipping clutch. im smashing my head on the wall for not getting a big clutch off the start. i'll be buying my third clutch in spring. clutch 1 "i don't plan on going over 350hp" and clutch 2 "no im not going to sled pull" are things iregret saying, clutch 3 will be "so whats the biggest you got"
