2006 Opinions needed ASAP guys

My brother found a used royal blue 2006 5.9L 2500 Quad Cab 4x4 Auto with a shortbox. It is loaded other than leather. 355xx km. It comes with fifth wheel hitch, running boards, tow prep, aluminum jockey box, undercoated, plus a couple other non-essential extras. The guy wants $28,800 (basically what is left oweing). No power mods.

What do you all think??? Anything to look for in that year - I already really don't like slushboxes?

He's dragging me out to look at it tonight.

Sounds like a nice truck, but beleive it or not, that is a little too much money for it. The used market is in the tank, probably needs to be below the 25k mark. For an example, my truck 07 chev, full load, extras (touneau cover, led tailights, afe intake, dual exhaust, new tires etc) is only worth 30 k. which sucks, cause I owe 40 on it.

I wouldnt be scared of the auto, personally I wouldnt buy anything but

I just looked at a new 08 ctd 3500 lam quad, listed for $55k so at $28k, that doesn't sound too bad. Was that 36000 km or 360000km? If its 36000 km, I would go and kick the tires. If its 360000, walk away. If I didn't have two trucks I would be interested in it. It would have to be pretty nice shape as well. I was told today, that the box is going smaller in the new design. I use mine for work and I need all the box that I can get. I was also told that if I cut off the emission stuff, that would be the end of the warranty, so that 2006 is looking pretty nice.

Have to agree with Mork on this one. Price is too high considering the marketplace for used trucks right now. Try and talk the seller down a bit

Yep, that's all. Apparently, the guy has two trucks for his business, but can only lease one through it and is selling the other. This is only the rumor i was told by my brother.

You don't necessarily have to "cut" it all off...

Any secerts Lil? There lots of bends and stuff under the truck? That egr valve bugs me too. So the new truck stuff still scares me The new rest of the truck is awesome, except the door speakers. I'm on my third set.

For reference, you could buy a brand new 08 3500 megacab with every single option for 50k OTD right now, maybe even less. That is a bit much for an SLT. But a LOT depends on the shape, with that KM I would expect it to look showroom inside and out, and be learly if it's not, because it could mean it was abused. Just remember, don't believe a word out of a seller mouths, dealer or private sale unless they can back it up with proof.

I'm sure you know but how many guys say they added no power mods but really did and hope you can't tell, not very hard to unplug a programmer and BS people.

At a auction 2 weeks ago, 07 2500 QC 4x4 SLT 60k km went for around 27k OTD. It was by no means perfect. If they are asking that, i'm sure you'd get them down around 2-3k.

Personally, I would never own another auto. Even the new one mated with the 6.7 isn't to great, my dads is making funny noises and clunks after working it, not even 70k on it....I like my stick, 125km and haven't touched a thing, stock clutch is standing up to the programmer pretty good

My brother is currently looking for around the same truck to, just a bit less coin, and there is a lot to choose from.

I was unable to attend the viewing with my brother - had to work late just until about just before posting this - freakin' last minute "poor planning somehow caused an emergency on my part" crap.

However, over the phone he told me that it drives good, but buddy would not budge below $28,500. It has a scratch from the rear wheel well back on the driver's side. Rumor has it, that the guy is 50+, so I would suspect the no power mod thing is fairly true. My brother apparently left him with his number and walked away.

I can honestly say, good on the bro for sticking to his guns and walking away for now. It was a good decision. I told him to check back with buddy in about a week as I don' think it'll go. Hopefully, he'll take my advice and register hear and watch the classifieds as well.

For reference my bro just sold his 03 2500 SLT QC SB 4x4 245km 5 speed with just rebuilt tranny and he got $15,000, and it took a while to sell. The truck had steelies etc on it, was OK shape, nothing great.

Thanks for the reference. I figured mine was worth $20,000 so I think I'm in the ball park.

Been thinking about selling it as I don't need a dually anymore and I'm not overly fond of the 6spd.

I think $25,000 is a good offer for that truck.
