Oooops

This past long w/e I drove to BC and noticed that the viberation in the truck was worst then normal,so I pulled out the rear drivshaft.Yup,the ujoints were going,so they got replaced by a big 3 auto machanic.Replaced ds and drove around town(seemed fine)Got out on the highway to come home on holiday monday, and it vibed even worst then before, but had to get home.Got to Camrose and noticed puddle under truck after 15 mins(thought I blew the slip yoke seal,it was not).It had actully cracked the (overdrive case ?)case between the transfercase and the tranny(47re).Its at the tranny shop as I speak and they informed me today that the ds is bent.I don`t understand how the ds got bent.Tranny shop said that they see no marks of being dropped.I just dont understand! But while its at the shop Im having them beef up the tranny($$$$)so it should haul my 11000 lb tt better.Maybe picking up tomorrow.

you must have had a really bad u-joint, to break the t-case housing and bend the drive shaft. Didn't the shop look for cracks/bent drive shaft when they replaced the u-joint? Those are normal checks.

It seems everytime that I hook-up my RV, I break stuff. Murphy lives well when I'm on vacation.

You have a good vacation other wise?

Were you towing heavy,, sometimes when towing heavy, with power and the right bump in the road = bent driveshaft. I had it happen to me on my old suburban. I had a fairly built 454 and would occasionally bend the driveshaft

I had my 25 yr reunion out at Kamloops the weather felt great 35-40 deg.
I did not drop the truck off at the shop.I took the ds out and reinstalled it.I did place marks on the ds and yokes.I stop at the Husky Truck Stop in NW Edm to refuel did not notice any puddles under my truck then.Somewhere tween truck stop and Camrose it seemed to run vibe free, and after 15-20 min at cousins place is when I noticed the puddles of oil,but I needed yet to get back to Ponoka. It was vibe free.I wasn`t towing anything during this trip,it was just the truck. When the truck was new(120000 km) I had taken it into the dealer to complain about driveline vibe and the s.manager told me that it was a truck and they do that .I knew better than that, and since then Ive had the ujoints replaced 3 x`s.Some info I have found about driveline vibe are the angles and that going with a cv joint driveshaft can make the difference,I just havent heard of a slip yoke eliminator kit for nv273 (electric shift).
Excel sent my ds to pats and they retubed it.Should be getting the truck back today.Except for how much I spent getting the tranny done.It should be fun to drive now.
