Oil Report
Umm... the acid wasn't measured Mike. Those are the reference numbers in that column. The oil is black and has been since about 2 weeks after i put it in, my '96 was the same way. The soot levels are good they are rated as B in the bottom section which means low to moderate.

They must have them on file Tate.I'm changing my fuel filter every 2 months for now Andy and using the amsoil fuel filter which is better than the rest for now.Plus i am still using the lubecorp diesel additive.Still on the original lift pump witha spare doanted by Joe in the tool box just in case.
I'm about to install the GDP 2 micron system on my truck but tell me more about this amsoil fuel filter(micron rating, etc.) Is it a drop-in filter? Looking for best fuel filtration for our finicky 3rd gen injectors. They need really clean fuel for longevity.
Andy
My oil is black after the first startup and level check, just changed my oil after 16,000 km. when I changed the oil I put a new fs2500 filter element in. At 142,XXXkm I switched from Castrol GTX 15-40 to Valvoline Blue 15-40. Haven't had an oil analysis done, was thinking about getting one done.

Interesting, that Amsoil fuel filter is also made by Donaldson. Donaldson only makes a 7 micron drop fuel filter for the 2003-07 Common rails.
The best drop in fuel filter you can buy for the 2003-07 5.9L Cummins is the 5 micron Baldwin. The latest Fleetguard drop-in equivalent is only rated at 7 micron.
That means that Amsoil fuel filter is very average & way overpriced.
I also recommend adding some additional fuel filtration. IMO even the 5 micron Baldwin is inadequate for the CR injectors.
There are tons of filter options but the Glacier kit is awesome & the stock engine mounted Cummins lift pump will push thru it with no issues.
The Glacier kit is easy to install & easy to service.
The big lines & fittings are high quality & it's an easy & ideal time to install post filter fuel pressure gauge at the same time.

The Glacier kit comes with a huge Fleetguard fuel filter rated at 5 microns (not 2 microns as Fleetguard states) but the Donaldson & Cat equivalents are better, rated at 2 microns.
Again with careful shopping I was able to buy about 8 Donaldson 2 micron fuel filters shipped to Montana for about US$10 each.
I also run the much cheaper Fleetguard drop-in 7 micron fuel filter.
It's about C$15 locally at Cummins.
BTW, I'm getting my info from AH64ID's excellent spreadsheet he put together for Cummins fuel filters.
