it seems the issue has corrected itself. i will try today and time how long it takes to stop spinning after shut down . . .

Keep us posted. I had a tip rub on start-up from a compressor impeller. If the turbo is loose and you put some stress (twisting forces) onto the turbo (exhaust system/cold air tubing), you could get some turbine blade rubbing. You'll just lose efficence of the turbocharger.

But, If the shaft to bearing is tight, send the turbo back. Take off the compressor shroud and do a hand spin test. If the bearing is tight now, after 50000km, it will just get worse from the carboning/heat. You'll have to let the engine cool down more than typical to prevent it from happing.
