I don't like them because they cook my back when i am bent over under the hood or standing under them.

I have 2 radiant heaters in my garage, 1 in each end, but i have high ceilings, they work fine for me, turn them down low when im not there, doesnt seem to take to long to warm up when i need to work in there.

I just ran the one that was already installed in the garage of the house we just moved into here in Lloyd. You know just to see if it worked on this chilly spring night. It appears to look very similar to the ones I saw at PA last week. I didn't get the name. My garage is a triple but a little messed up in that the third bay is offset such that there is only a walkway connecting. Anyway, in a couple minutes all was toasty. I don't think there is anything wrong with PA or Peavy Mart versions for garage apps.

I also have a radiant tube heater in my garage. Love the thing. Paint cooking is not an issue (unless your vehicle would be ridiculously close). Heat recovery is excellent as it heats objects, not the air. I would certainly go this route again if I were to re-do it.

Regardless of what type you end up with - be mindful of your thermostat placement. Too close to the heater will cause it to continually click on and off. Place it further away or at least away from the direct heat output to avoid the continual on and off cycling of the heater.

I have radiant heaters in my Garage and my shop and I love them. Way more efficient to run than a forced air system....Very quick to heat up also.

What is the ceiling height? You normally have a 4' burn-zone from the tubes .

I have the infrared tube in my 2200 sq/ft shop w/ 12' walls the worst heating bill was $165 when it was avg -20 to -40 nights..

Here is the brand I used.I figured you northern types knew about cold temps:
