morkable!

Hey, Kevin! You've had your engine compartment apart enough times. Have you noticed where they put your horn?

Ill be darned if I can locate mine to tap in a solenoid trigger for my air horns.

Anyone else have starting place to look?

In my '98, it was along the rad on the passenger side. Nothing there or or by the fog lights. I had the GF tap it as I listened - seems to be coming from the driver's side, but I cannot get a visual. I tried to stick my hand under the fuse/relay block in front of the battery and couldn't feel anything there.

It is on the drivers side, by the ww resivoir,, you might have to pull the fender well (which is real easy) to get at it. under the fuse box

On my 2004.5, the horns are between the front bumper and plastic fender shield, up inside there on the drivers side.

Dodge keeps moving the windshield washer fluid tank around. 2003-2004 it's on the driver's side by the rad, like Kevin's.
Then for 2004.5- 2007 it is on the passenger side firewall, like mine.

I see on the 2007.5 & newer 6.7L's it back by the rad on the passenger side.

Thanks guys! It's a 2007 5.9L I am looking for. It would be kinda nice if they put it in one spot. I could have sworn I heard it on the driver's side.

Madhat posted a diagram on another thread - it appears to be near framerail on the driver's side - I looked near that area last night, but I could not locate it from under the truck or above with the hood open - I am famboozled to say the least - feel like I'm looking for a needle in a haystack.

Horns are mounted as of last night after buiding custom aluminum mounts (post pics later - crap, will it be loud for the texters in my way!). Tonight, as soon as I run the air lines and mount the solenoid, I'm ready to run the wires for trip.

How did you know Doc?? Just the pinky finger this time - wrench slipped and caught a sharp edge on the aluminum bumper - no skin for 1/4" x 3/4" long. This is what happens when trying to custom mount two 24.5" horns behind the front bumper.

That's all part of the fun in tinkering..........leaving a little blood behind as a rememberance that is was done yourself....................isn't it?

Thankfully, the GF is a nurse.......fixed me right up in the garage.

I'm hearing I gotta pull down the fender liner. If this is so..................things can get progressively worse.

the fender liner is easy to pull,, 2 minutes if that... not much to it,, just watch the little pull thingies when you pull it out,, you should be able to get enough clearance without having to pull them out though

It is done............and tested. Whoohoo - a custom mounted set of Grover 24.5" Stuttertones (designed for fire trucks)!!

Thanks for all the help in locating the truck horn folks.

What a pain to tap into the horn wires though.

No lost fingers Doc, just some hefty abrasions! Thanks for the moral support though.

Too tight - hard enough just to get hands in to work.

I guess thats why my longest job last year was 5 weeks, I always had my gloves on . . . except that one time cleaning bearings. Ironically, it was the safety guy that gave us **** for that . . .
