Master rebuild kit for a NP 241 transfer case
Jason, Its a late year run of the 02's. Its electronic lock-up in the t-case as that where the wires go to. I think that the entire front axle and drive shaft turn as you drive the truck. The only wire attached to the front axles is the anti-lock sensors and brake lines. I thought about doing some old school stuff, its just easier to re-build and I'm lazy.
Maybe once I resto the truck I can try something. You driving the old girl? I put on 3000km last week on her and no issues. Still have anti-freeze and oil in the motor.

Took mine around the block last week-was going to start using it full-time again this shift but the Dakota floats on the mud better.
If you're going to go the rebuild-your-own route, you could probably get parts from Pro Trac in Edmonton. They rebuilt my 5600. Probably cheaper than the Gear Centre.

What kind of tools do you need for a rebuild on the TCase? I have hand and air tools, just not a heavy press for bearings etc.. Do you have to press the bearings in?
Mine is getting loose on the front output shaft and needs and OH.. Also I think I saw some spring shrapnel in the bell housing..

If you want, we could drop your tranny and do a quick inspection. If it is indeed the damping springs coming out, hopefully Peter will take care of you. How long have you had that clutch?
I've never been into one J-but looking at the service manual quickly it doesn't look like a press is needed for anything-a few bearings need to be driven in and out of the case but that's not a biggie. Hoping your metal issue isn't what you think it is....

I did have a spare T case laying around to experiment on.
Lil dog, we can give yours a try. What could go wrong.
I think that it should be a easy overhaul/service. I can wait a while on mine. I might just buy a T-case from the gear center, they have a pretty good warranty. Put in new u-joints and driveshafts. The truck will almost be new again.
The country roads out here are pretty soft around Airdrie, but fun. I've been ripping them up after work. I still working a few bugs out of the front end and dialing it in so the smooth soft ride.

Drop the tranny for a quick inspection?? Last time I did that took me 2 days..
When I did my clutch I rented a tranny jack, actually it came with Eaton adapters, so it was a little overkill. 10 hours is really honkin on it. Maybe I am just slow...
.
It should go faster as I made sure to anti-sieze all the fasteners to the frame. AHHH, anyway if I pull it an its toast, then its plan B??

Ah yes. Well maybe thats what slows me down..+burp+... I am thinking on the turbo situation. If I am not towing anymore with it, then I have a little more of a direction on how to pick.. Having a towing hotrod is just not practical.
