Good stuff you guys! I went to Chicago for my bike; and found my "new" '03 Laramie in Texas. You can imagine the coin I kept in my pocket! I'm lovin' it!

It seems everyone had problems with vendors here in one way or another.Sorry to say,but unless they adjust their prices, more consumers will order state side. The vendors have had a very good run for many years, its about time they came down to earth.
I agree, its nice to spends some money locally but when their prices are just to high and if there is no customer service than there is no question I am going else were. I brought a Grand Cherokee diesel up from the states and saved 10-15K. I also just bought a turbo that's from Canada but paid a company in the states and he had it shipped straight to my house from the warehouse in Canada, no duty, no broker’s fee, no gst and even free shipping.
saved probably 500-600 bucks. I have been buying from peak or pdr though, they do have reasonable prices and good customer service.

Funny about the shipping etc.. I was talking to a vendor in the US that sells BD products. I could get it substantially cheaper from him and they ship it from BD Canada offices..
Anyhow, this is nothing new for us in Alberta. I can recall stories from 2 years ago of similar nature. And thats when we were paying only $0.80 on the US dollar, there was still savings to have it purchased and shipped than to get it here. NUTZ!.

and I hope you can see our/ my point of view with regards to pricing. I think people across the board are getting tired of being gouged for parts and products in Canada.
We totally sympathize with you guys, but like I said we see a lot of companies who undercut everyone else by putting their prices like 10% above their cost. When retail prices are set by the manufacturers. Sure it moves product but it doesn't help the rest of us who are trying to keep businesses profitable.
If you owned a business wouldn't it frustrate you when you see other companies pricing stuff well below your cost? How are you to compete? Lose money on the sale? Try and make 10% above your cost? That doesn't make financial sense and you would be out of business within a year if you resorted to their tactics.

I have to agree with Tate!
I know lot's of businesses that sell tons of volume at a lower price and they make a very good living doing it.
We all make reference to PDR and Peak for examples, they sell at lower prices and seem to stay afloat business wise. Are they doing something wrong or just giving awesome service at a great price and to keep having customers come back.
I'm sure like most of us here, my money doesn't grow on trees so I shop for the better price. Although, I will pay a little more for service also, but that is lacking hugely these days at any of the local shops so I head stateside or to BC.
I've dealt with almost all the shops here in Alberta at one time or another and because of the service let alone the price, I've not been back.

I would dare say that just the exposure here and on other various sites would bring a lot of traffic to your sites/business, however once the pricing is sourced, the business is going elsewhere.
Don't take this thread as a bash as we appreciate the site sponsorship, but observe how the local crowd is bypassing your efforts not just to save $20, but some substantial dollars.
If any local members with other vehicles looking for cheap replacement parts check out www.autopartsway.ca,they are out of B.C and a heck of a lot cheaper than any of our local places for parts---they even ship for free if you spend over $75.00Can---Example-- a fuel filter for my import was 40.00-50.00 here, from these guys 22.00 for the same thing,Just some help if you need it and no flame or war intended---just want to help save a few bucks since everything has gone through the roof price wise here.DW
.........the Alberta vendors should take some notes, revisit their business objectives and see what the potential would be.

Needless to say, their trucks have been worked on while my AD150 still sits waiting for install because I haven't had the time to do my own.
