I like my new truck better?

Well we made the 3rd payment and got the truck home Sat 3 months after we bought it. Excellent deal on a C&C 2007, custom deck took 5 weeks, E-brake & high idle enabled, and new dual mass clutch assembly after it failed at 1280km's. So what is the secret to get heat in the cab at -40 at highway speed (95C engine temp and tarp covering rad)? When it sits high idle at 1600 with recirculated air mode burns your hand off, roll down the highway and on fresh air fan speed 2/3 luke warm-----or 2011km's and back to the dealer? Why does used Kenworth keep singing to me? PK

What no words of wisdom to my dilemna, it's OK I know that just like my 2001 with the infamous 24 valve this one will take some time to work the bugs out. PK

I have a buddy with an 07 6.7 wishin he kept his 5.9... I know that doesn't help much, but I don't know what to say for heat.. The heater cores are small in these trucks, or they don't get enough flow..

I thought you got the 6spd auto, too bad you couldn't just up for the SBC conversion...

I was just trying to see what kind of reaction I would get from the home boys. The dealer spent a lot of time to enable the E-Brake and the high idle kit for the 6 speed, the truck really is a nice driving truck with the exception of ride. I was kind of spoiled with the 01 and the deck with air bags as it rode like a Cadillac. I knew the C&C was a lot stiffer but I am pleased with the deal including deck price as the whole thing came in just over MSRP with the deck included. On one of the 3rd Gen 6.7 threads the whining went on and on forever about how bad these trucks are supposed to be. Everybody is having issues with the extreme cold and the new emissions, we have 28 buses with S60 Detroits and between the re-gen and the variable vane turbos they have had their issues. I was just surprised that the heater is not that hot with the rad blocked off and moving down the road. PK

It would be nice to be able to limit the amount of fresh air they allow in when it gets real cold. Mine does the same thing, if i'm fartin' around town it'll keep you pretty warm, but hit the highway and you freeze. If you put it on recirc then you get no direction control and everything fogs up with all of the moisture in the stale air.

Hey P Kennedy, how about a good big picture of your Flat Fender Dodge Power Wagon. Is it a Fargo? I have a 63 model WM300 FFPW. It is same color as yours, but I am going to red and black with it. Sorry no help with heat issue. If I moved up there I would have to get a 12 volt heater you plug in and keep at my feet. I have seen them in catalogs. Down here we spend more time trying to stay cool. Pesky Global Warming.

Actually I stole that picture off of the internet but I had a red & black one but it ended up in the crusher, excess rust. I had a second one in all grey that I bought in Washington but never picked up 10 years ago. There was one repowered with a 4BT on the TDR but it was an M cab, kind of cool. There are some here in Alberta most are not for sale and big bucks. The heater thing I will work on I might have to put a aux heater under the back seat again. PK

If you think it's the heater core getting plugged off, I've known people to have success running CLR through it to clear it out. Think the last guy I knew warmed it up and circulated it through the core backwards with a drill pump. That combined with gentle (and I do mean gentle!) bursts of compressed air backwards did the trick for him. I have heard of issues with the temperature door/actuator as well but have never experienced these problems with mine so I can't offer any advice. There are not too many things I am afraid of working on anymore-pulling the dash out would be one of them!
