I just noticed . . .
Sure does buddy. I just gotten used to all the mechanical stuff breaking. Thankfully these trucks are easy to work on. I almost bought a new 09 laramie yesterday, but man all the stuff under that hood, just scares me. The CTD engine 09 is slightly different than the 08. That six speed tranny is dreamy and for a stock truck it moves pretty good. That monthly charge that goes on for every just scares me. They also have some mickey mouse stuff that just gonna break or seize up and gonna be pricey to only break again.
I have to just get my projects done and keep mumma happy.
I have to go up north this week, so another 4-5k on the rig is gonna spin by fast.

Just got the tranny/tcase and clutch out of the 97. Gotta say the clutch looks pretty darn good actually. Just a small broken spring from the center section and the rest of the springs have worn from bouncing around, pretty loose.
Aw come on Mike, the new stuff is just soo fun to drive...LOL..

Whats that cable operated device sitting on top of the exhaust. I was told that it was cruise control. I can't believe that its operated by a cable on two pulleys
Don't these engineers know that we are gonna driving these trucks in the mud, rain, and snow. I was told that I could pull the filter out and run a programer to bypass the regen. The 09 also has a bypass button for the regen.
Of course they told me that on the 02, and when the tranny took a dump at 10k, it was only bill.

Boy they sure want to sell you a truck...
Total BS on all of it. That servo is the EGR flow valve.. A twin butterfly valve for exhaust control to the main EGR valve on the intake plenum. No button to bypass regen, actually that light load button is for the tire pressure sensors. What a bunch of idiots!
As far as the programmer goes, if they will back you, go for it and pull it all off. I have yet to find a dealer around here that I would trust for that.
I thought that was the egr exhaust flow valve. Kinda wild looking device. Plastic wheels that are run off a cable. I didn't see that on a 08 truck? Dog, if you ran the smarty and turned off the egr valve, you think that would be enough so I could pull the filter. You know dodge as on their warranty. They also told me I can run a lift kit with 33in tires and still keep my warranty.
If I'm not gonna have a warranty, I would rather just buy an used truck out states. I just need more cab room when I go camping, other than that I really don't need a new truck. It even came with remote start. I thought you couldn't do that on a diesel.
I was bored on Friday.

No, just having the EGR disabled is not enough. The S67 software disables the EGR even on the stock trucks but you still have to deal with DPF regens. I had 2 last week (needed gauges to for that, the EVIC doesn't say squat.) so in short, you have to dump them to get the full benefit and run the ME software. I am not in a panic yet. I will get to the DPF stuff when it happens, but the more I watch the regens and 1350°F EGT's on flat road, the more I want to pull it off and roll the dice.
If I'm correct the regen cycle is done based upon the DPF being almost full. If you take out the DPF filter and run smarty ME to bypass the EGR, that should fix the regen issue.
Wow 1350 deg's on a regen cycle? I wonder how the rest of the motor will handle that over the long term...
I guess that issue would come-up after the warranty is up and toasted off.

Actually the DPF doesn't even have to be full. AFter a timer is tripped and the deltaP across the filter is X, then it does a cycle. I had it regen on me about 15 minutes after a WOT pass on hwy 12. Just the few extra ponies and flow must have tripped it cuz it just did a 20 minute "cleanse" the day before.
