On the older second gens (pre 98), the blend door was cable actuated. I've found if you turn the temp **** fully from cold to hot and back, you should hear a small thump as the door hits the stop in each direction. It's just a quick easy way to tell if the door is operating and in proper adjustment, without having to disassemble anything.

Mine seems to be blowing decent heat again. I flushed the heater core but it was clean, I am pretty sure it was just air locked.

You know...When I turn the **** normally,I don't hear a thump...So I turned the **** fast and heard the thump...I will try it in the morning...Wouldn't that be something if that was the problem...all along..

I have to share this with ya. Today, I was coming home from the airport. I hit the remote start button on my 08 hemi 1500 truck. I riding in the airport shuttle about 2 miles away. By the time the airport shuttle got to my truck, the truck was blowing hot air out the vents. So not all dodge heaters suck. My 02 would have took another 15mins and lots more smoke to get the heat out. The truck had about 2in of snow on it but the front window was starting to melt.

I should have never said anything about haveing awesome heat, new years eve my blower motor started to stink and only blows at about half speed. Tryed to order a new one and all the parts stores are back ordered. Dodge wants way to much so i think i'm stuck buying a used one for $100. Any of you guys know of any good wrecker yards down south? I'm tired of paying new prices for old junk.

Is it your motor or the resistor pack for speed control? It is located in with the motor and the coils burn up which may be your smell.

Any more info on this Chris? I dont really get any fan/heat on the first 2 settings. I assume its the resistor pack but havent really looked at it too close.

There is a resistor "board" that controls the fan speed, it is a board with coils of resistive wire on it. It is located down by the fan motor with the coils in the air flow. The coils actually dissintegrate and you lose speed control or no fan at all. I habven't had to do this truck yet but i put 3 in my dakota.
