Got my designation from the federal government.

I now have a fancy four letters behind my name (CRSP - Canadian Registered Safety Professional). I don't feel any different, but it is now time to pay for the cost and time to get it. I believe my company is going to insult me with a salary offer and I doubt anyone will pay, unless I'm independent.

If anyone is looking for a safety consultant, please forward the information my way. There have been a few offers from persons I don't even know, but one had to carefully dissect their offer and what they were requiring - not good.

Please let me know.

I have with one company Kevin - same as where a buddy works. The problem is I now have better credentials than the one doing the hiring and she's afraid for her job. It's freakin' painful.

Most are looking for CSO's and NCSO's through the ACSA's measly program (no offense to anyone that has those designations) . CRSP is far above in qualification criteria and they don't want to pay for it as they've bid jobs during the downturn.

Is there a job for me????? lol im thinking about turning into a hopeless broke farmer soon, looking like its about the best thing since i hate going to Wabasca. I would also try Cenovos, they have almost turned into another imperal oil. More safety than work, Not saying there is anything wrong with that. Just a thought as they had 2 safety guys that did field inspections and there always looking the one guy told me.

Congratulations....

What field do you current work in? No offense intended & maybe I'm telling you something you already know but CRSP doesn't add up to allot without the experience to back it up... Maybe I can point you in the right direction...I know of a few companies who are always looking.

Wow, good work!! Probably one of about 3 in Canada with that designation.. If it were me, go it alone consulting and see what that brings. With todays reliance on ISNetworld to mandate their safety program, I would pay to have someone set up that system THAT KNOWS WHAT THEY ARE DOING!

Anyhow, as a small company guy that does the safety program for our two man outfit, I bow in your presence.

No offense taken - I'm a firm believer that theoretical education is useless without experience in practical application:

Law enforcement experience. Environmental Monitoring and Enforcement Diploma. 15 years oilfield experience total. The past 7, in upstream, midstream, and downstream on-site safety.

- previous: H2S Supervisor on drilling rigs, service rigs, plus all other downhole servicing operations
- ERT, GF, Project Sup. in industrial safety (turnarounds, shutdowns, emergency outages, projects)
- Instructor for NFPA 1006 Level III Confined Space and Rope Rescue and Train the trainer for upcoming instructors
- experience in audits, inspections, investigations, BBS observations
- H2S Alive instructor for Enform
- instructor for various other courses including OSSA CSE&M and Firewatch
- design supplied breathing air systems & BA instructor
- emergency response planning

That's just an overview. Resume has more.

Well.................about 2400 across Canada. I'd love to go it alone - it just takes that one foot in the door.

Sounds like you're the certified of the certified. Congrats.

I'd look at offshore rig time.

Serious certs can net serious money out there.

Well, the qualifications have come as a function of the roles and responsibilities placed upon me from management. Over qualified in some aspects doesn't sound unfamiliar; however, the opportunity to work less for more money is appealing.

Sent you an email.

Not much is advertised for contract consulting. It is usually word of mouth I'm finding. I already have resumes in to most of them there. Sorry.......................you have to create a profile on the website.
