going to lower my truck a bit more,, need parts

Hey all, I want to lower my truck a bit more in the front,, Im thinking about maybe some 1500 second gen springs, or maybe some 2500 gasser ones. Does anyone just happen to have a set of these that they would like to part with for a reasonable price? I would need them for the first week of august as this is the only week I can work on it before aab

What are you trying to accomplish with the softer front springs? Front end lift on a drag launch?

I don't think the 2500/3500 Hemi front springs will hold up the Cummins at all.

I would recommend going the other way. Go to heavier front springs and then trim them down to get the ride height you want.

The heaviest stock front springs for a 4wd Cummins would be from the 4wd Mega-cab, dually, Cummins.

I have been trying to lower my 2wd drive front suspension for over a year now.
I find the stock front springs too soft on my truck. I did confirm that the 2wd Mega-cab, dually, Cummins front springs are heavier than mine.
My plan is to trim these a bit to get the ride height I want (lower by about an inch) without bottoming out.
Now trying to actually get a set from my Dodge dealer is another story...

i just installed a leveling kit and have a set of stock springs from my 2000 4x4 sitting in my backyard. maybe the 2000 springs are different than your 03 - myabe they will work, or you can trim them or play around with them. . .

pm if interested

My whole goal is lower, not worried about ride quality. I want to drop about 2 inches, maybe even 2.5 inches

kevin if you want to try them i have a stock set from my truck and i could cut them for you. one thing that comes to mind though is you might need some type of limiting strap depending on how far the shocks let the axle drop, to prevent the spring from poppin out if there is that possability.

Hi Dodger, I am from Calgary and my truck is a short box. Pics in profile.

Kevin,

if you just want to lower the front & not worry about ride quality you could just trim a set of stock springs.
A cutoff wheel/chop saw/hack saw will work fine.

For temporary measure, they do make coil spring clamps that clamp the spring coils closer together.
Totally mickey mouse but might work for temporary drag racing purposes.

For permanent purposes, one really needs a stiffer spring when lowering any vehicle to prevent bottoming out
since the clearance to the bump stops is reduced.

Thanks Joe, I actually have been in contact with a company down in the states, coilspring.com. They make custom springs to suit. Less than 300 bucks for a set of springs. Unfortunately I dont think that I can get them in my timeline,, so I am going to temporarily cut the springs, til I can get some time and do it right, probably this winter sometime.
