First tint ticket arg!
No cop out, the facts are due to an incident in which a pedestrian died, several as a matter of fact and level intersection collisions. Scientific fact the tint in the driver or passenger windows can reduce the visibility up to 60% in low light and wet windows. Driving skill has nothing to do with inability to see, OEM glass is spec according to federal testing standards and visibility under various light conditions. The forward and windshield glass has a maximum tint based on the actual studies including the mirror images reflected through it. Call CTEC in Edmonton and ask them how it affects certain engineering and collision reconstruction evidence in certain cases where visibility due to non-OEM tint was a contributing factor to the cause. Your choked because the guy with a tail light out rolls through traffic quietly while your high profile attention getter and obvious non-compliance issues help you make new friend with flashy company cars. People drive "stock" vehicles every day without a second glance from the gestapo unless their actions warrant notice. Oldest gig in the books squeal tires with a bright, noisy and fast looking vehicle and smokey gonna bust your butt. For those others you think should be given tickets for non-compliance it is your right and duty to call in a formal complaint, signed statement and attend court as a witness to such tragedy. In some states you would have already thrown away this months wages in fines and made to remove or change the problem. In some European countries you would be walking, be thankful Alberta is so permissive to customizing your truck.
So mocho, you're in the 19.5-ish age group?
I've have my license 17 years and only had 1 ticket. yup speeding, yup on my brand NEW 1997 Honda CBR900RR 12 years ago. My bad, I ate it.
ok. 1 ticket in 17 years for me.

Still on the tint safety thing? It is a load of crap. If it's so unsafe why do almost all states have a medical exemption which allow people to put 5% on front windows. Heck in Montana you can get grandfathered into being allowed ANY tint you want on your vehicle. Many states are 35% legal for everyone. Give me a break, it's not for safety, it's just another way to control everything and get more money. I've said it before, they will have to pry the wrench out of my cold dead hand before I stop modding my truck, not going to let the laws get so far that everyone is driving a Prius and lucky to have a different color then everyone else
Yea i'm close to that age range, not like it matters, in 10 years I will be driving the same truck, and it will be just as or more illegal then then it is now.

How goes the battle?
Before that Police Officer pulled you over he new of your prior tickets. He also new of your atttitude dealing with the other offficer.
If you look into the laws about window tint, mud flaps and over length loads, they are very clear as to what you can and cannot do.
It is obvious that you know what you did was not legal, but you did it anyways. Because you and others you know and see do it and have gotten away with it for so long you figure the Bylaw enforcement officer was picking on you or had a attitude. He probelly felt the same way.
Most officers will let guys go on things such as you described one day and then hit you the next day. It is how things go.
I know if you look hard enough you can find what the law says in reguards to your above disputes (some article from some window/tire shop is not the law)you will need to look up the Queens printer and go through there. You can also find the min and max fines and consequences about them. Some of it is pretty good reading. Some of it will leave you a little dissapointed about what they can do to you.
As things slow down in the economy expect more officers of all kinds to be out and enforcing the basic laws more and more.
I would like for you to go fight this ticket and see what the Judge says. It would let us all know what the actual outcome of the legalities were in respect along with the working law on this subject.
After all the Enforcement officers give the tickets, the judge interprets the law and applies it.

It's not that bad here but it does happen, heck 2 years ago it was what +32C? It might not be scorching hot like the southern states but the sun is still bad enough to kill interior.
I will be fighting the ticket for sure. I did look up the laws and flagging is needed if hanging over 1.5m which it was NOT, yes my mud flaps on the rear of my truck were not legal, but he was talking about the front which do NOT need mud flaps. So yes he was wrong and didn't know the laws and I did.
Yes i'd really like to know what the law is, this is what the ticket goes to for the law "Drive / operate motor vehicle where motor vehicle /
equipment improperly used / prescribed by regulations"
And i'd really like to know if tinted windows are so dangerous why do ghost cars have them?
