First tint ticket arg!
I wasn't slighting the charges or the acts that got them.. All I was expressing is your only recourse is to go to court. I have had the occasion to go and its not that bad. I felt the ticket was unjust, the officer thought it was just so the judge split it down the middle for us.. I thought for one is was a learning experience and two, got some middle ground on a ticket I thought was bogus.. I was young and had a zippy little car, easy target..
Doing something for years doesn't necessarily make it right. It just so happened that this time someone noticed.
Just so you know, the money collected for infractions goes to the Province and not any service in actual writing of the tickets. I can say that no ticket I ever wrote, was BS. However, I can say that people have done things on their own accord to prompt me to want to look harder at even more things. Just like the classic seatbelt example. I rarely noticed someone wasn't wearing it until they reached for it - then it just made me look for other things. From just a simple seatbelt, here are a few examples of the "other things" I've found: weapons and firearms offenses, drugs, impaireds, insurance, registration, stolen items.....just to name a few.
I think the most common thing that everyone has eluded to in this thread so far, is avoid doing things in general that will make law enforcement take a second look. Remember, most of the guys appreciate tricked out vehicles on various levels as a lot are into it themselves, but be sensible about it.
This is what made him take notice in the first place guaranteed. 2' overhang, who cares. 5.5 ' is a bit extreme without flagging.
Next time when stopped however, roll both windows down completely showing full vision and respect for officer safety and see how much farther along that may get you. My guess would have been just the $75 no flag ticket.............if that even.
Also, it was plastered all over the news stations and radio. Last week was a "focus on seatbelt infractions week" across the province. He probably couldn't see squat inside your truck due to the level of tint you chose to go with. On your other thread, didn't you state you were going as dark as possible knowing the consequences? You took it into your own hands. And........you're not being singled out Mocho - any one of us, including me, that chose to get our windows tinted, chose to possibly deal with the consequences as well. I agree, they could probably spend time more wisely to deal with other things........but, it is, what it is.
I'm not sure what you're trying to say here........to me, it kinda makes no sense.......a lot of information is missing from this statement.
Regardless, did you call the EPS traffic section? "Hello Mr. Superintendent. I work in a construction zone in the city at ________ address. We have experienced numerous instances of drivers not slowing down to a reasonable speed as posted in our area. We are working in close proximity to traffic and have some safety concerns. Would it be possible that we could get a more pronounced traffic enforcement presence in our area?"
With the amount of other retarded crap happening in our city, EPS cannot be everywhere, so mentioning of problem areas will likely lead to an increased focus.

First of all, we don't bother to call the cops when someone speeds threw our work area anymore, because it changes atleast once a week, pretty tough and the cops couldn't give a crap anyways. What I was saying is that I was finishing a driveway and set down the handle of a tool and it got run over right away. After this incident we parked our trucks to block traffic from getting to close to us, and someone ran into my brothers truck because of it (he was sure lucky it wasn't mine).
There was one cop in a car that radioed it ahead and them the next guy ahead pulled me over, by the time this guy got to my truck both front windows were all the way down, he asked me to roll one up so he could see the tint. He had no idea if they were even tinted, and my mistake was actually doing it, won't happen again. He told me the overhang was not allowed AT ALL even with a flag, he didn't know the law. Same with my mud flaps, which I was "warned" about and are 100% legal. He didn't know his head from his a$$ and it showed. I wish he gave me a ticket for the overhang and mud flaps, then I know I would get all 3 gone because he couldn't read the law.
This ticket was BS, same with seatbelts for anyone over 18, dumbest law ever. I won't debate it, I wear mine but no law will make me. Pulling over someone for a seatbelt ticket is a BS ticket unless it is an excuse because you suspect something else.
It's ok i'm going to fight it, it will cost me more by missing a day of work but it's the point of it, I will gladly mention his other "warnings" to and take some pictures of my truck to show he doesn't know anything

I have lots of repect for law enforcement who do their job right, but those on power trips **** me right off. I have talked to a RCMP of over 30 years who's been at a friends regarding many things i've been hassled about like alcohol in vehicle with a GDL, tint, etc, and he said he would NEVER pull someone over for these if they didn't deserve it for something else, or were getting wise and wanted to slap something else on. Heck he knew I had a GDL and have liqour in my truck and said as long as you don't drink and drive I don't care. He's even seen my tint and says the same thing, said it was dark but wouldn't pull over for it unless driving like a idiot. I'm going to have to talk to him about the ticket, i'm sure he knows of a way or two to get rid of it, he's not to fond of peace officers anyway, I wonder why!
I know when I was in school if you lifted a truck more then 2 inches you had to have it inspected. I use to really hate that idea, untill I seen some of the lifts people were installing on trucks they were driving around. The police woul dalso hassle these guys on everything with their trucks even when they had the tickets because most of them were pushing the limits. They all had the same thoughts as you. That was till one day one of the big truck 85 F250 that had a legal lift kit that got swapped out for a hockey puck lift got into an accident ans sheared the cab off which actually cut the top halve of the car off it hit. Needless to say most fo the guys didnt complain about the cops hasseling them after that.
I wish you the best of luck, remember be respectfull of the law, and if the Judge throws the book at you be prepared to suck it up.
Let me get this straight, you rolled down your windows once you realized you were getting pulled over? Why if there is nothing wrong with them and it is all legal.
You seem as if you have the right to drive a vehicle and have it set up the wy you want it. I will let you know driving a vehicle is a priviledge not a right and a judge can remove that right or limit it. Be carefull.
good luck in court, let us know what the outcome is after.

Mocho, if your intent and attitude you convey on here is presented in court, you will need more then just luck. In addition, law enforcement agencies thrive on reactions/behaviours like this. When you make it your mission to fight the law and to express your 'rights', they will respond.
You got the TUDE, DUDE. LOL Good luck with that.
I don't think I know better but more the fact that I will not let a cop give me a BS ticket just because of my age and the truck I drive and take it lying down. The guy wanted to hassle me as much as possible and I will not stand for it from anyone cop or not. I think it says a lot that i've been driving for almost 3.5 years and this is only my second ticket, how many people can actually say that? I respect those who respect me, if someone cop or not gives me an attitude they will get it back the same. I will not have a problem fighting the ticket, I know how to conduct myself just fine.

but as time goes on you tend to drive a little better with age,not so much in a hurry anymore and the orders will get there when i arrive----think you can do better---- jump on in the cab and show me your experience

---My .02 cents.DW.

Well got pulled over again, this time by RCMP
No ticket, just a warning, funny how a real cop didn't say anything that my truck had NO mud flaps, or try to hassle me about stupid crap. Sadly I think I might have to take the tint off, I didn't know they could give me another tint ticket and failure to comply, and the 3rd time they can take your plate? Going back to school and can't afford a two hit ticket so it might come off till i'm done school, but it will be back on right after. I really don't know exactly why he didn't give me a ticket, one coming the opposite way seen it and radioed ahead i'm sure, the one that pulled me over never seen the tint, just rolled down windows while it's raining as I drove by him
Actually said something about it to....
I'm sure I will get razzed for this, but does anyone know about a medical exemption for tint here? I know most states have it but couldn't find anything on it for here. Either way i'm going to give that one go before it gets removed, I know I can't live without it now

Ya really what a stupid law ticketing for stupid over tinted windows, man those "cops" are such jerks blah blah blah. The traffic act is very clear and the father of the little girl killed in a crosswalk on a rainy night due to reduced vision is standing behind you all the way!!!! Or maybe it was the son of the family killed by a unmarked over length load that speared him to death, my god what were those law makers thinking. The only thing I can think of is they had your plate number and their boss told them to make your life miserable. Oh and thanks for rapping your open piped exhaust a 2:00 am in my neighborhood on your way home to bed just before I get up to go to work, holy crap noise laws are just ridiculous. Seriously, logically why would they target a guy like you------ some enforcement people are **** but the majority of disrespectful people draw attention to themselves through selfish attitude! Yah the mud flap ticket was nit picken but imagine if you had to put up with "you" 30 times a day. I like "cool" trucks, performance parts and having fun but when something goes wrong the innocent always pay-dearly by the disrespect of others. I don't expect you to understand, nothing you have is threatened by your actions and attitude or others like you. Family and bad memories can cure it too late.

Some laws, I agree with but tint I do not. Put up with me? I was very polite to the RCMP today, because he was with me, he was courtous and didn't try to nit pit 1000 things about my truck. Anyone who has tinted windows and causes an accident because of it doesn't know how to drive and the windows are a cop-out. Tinted windows do not affect anyones safety, the windows are down long before the officer is to the door, not to mention, you could black out the backs so they can't see in, how safe is that for them? How do tinted windows affect hitting someone in a crosswalk? They don't. Stupid people happen everyday and laws aren't going to change anything.
I would be a lot more worried about vehicles with no brake lights, people who don't know laws. My truck nearly killed someone 2 years ago when they didn't know the laws, the guy got very very lucky his son is still around.

If you feel like lobbying a law, write your MLA or MP. The cops are there to enforce the laws, not debate them. I bet if you talked to some of the cops (before they pull you over would be wiser), they would say that they don't agree with all the laws, but you know what? It's their job to enforce them, regardless of their personal feelings.
If you can't afford paying the tint tickets, or having your plate taken, or vehicle towed, then maybe you should play by the rules. You know the rules, you are consciously breaking them, suck it up.

I guess I just make to much sense, why bother someone driving a POS that is waiting to cause an accident when you can bother a vehicles that are perfectly cared for and simply choose to keep the value of their vehicle high.
O well tint tickets are cheaper then replacing interior that looks like crap from the sun in a few years

Sums up this thread now I think, I guess we'll have to agree to disagree, and I will be happy and keep the tint
