Ya, the heater on high output burns .5L an hour and .2L hour on low. So usually on a cool day it will run on high for about 30 min and switch to low for the remainder of the 120 min timer. The 7 day is handy for the airport too, if you travel.

sweet, looks like the parts guys at work will bring in the timer for me!! Gold.

ordered a DTT billet converter and VB for my 47rh going in the Chevy. I'm hoping I can bang on it for a while now.

hey guys has anyone looked into ESPAR D4W heater there for smal for pick-ups well on the espar suit it says it for dodge pick-ups lol getting aprice on one today .....

I think the D4 heater is being phased out for the D5.

Also another gadget for the Espar, keyless activation. I never got it but you can get a keyfob activator for it as well.

I have a D4 - works just fine. I have the timer and keyfob as well. If you arent going to get the timer you might as well not bother getting an Espar.

I thought they phased them out a couple of years ago. If you are getting a D4, I would think its old stock.

The 7-day timer is all right but I wish you could do more with it as to setting your times and days. I hooked up my remote start to my timer and that was probally the best thing. Now I can start it when ever I want.

If you look at the specs on the Espar D5 and the equivelant Webasto heater there is really no differance between them at all, even the dimensions of the heater are the same. I have the Espar in my truck and my dad got the Webasto for his and I like the 7 day timer they put in mine over the poopy one they gave him. The only thing I like about his, is the remote start. My timer allows mine to run for a max 2 hours and his is max 1 hour and its not enough when its -30 or below at all. They could have given him the same timer as mine so watch which one they give you whichever route you decide to go. I find his is maybe a tad quieter than mine too but whats worse, my straight piped truck at -20 or the Espar running?

I did get the D5 and timer, they're in the garage as we speak.


Lildog.. where does that signalwire come off of, the timer or the heater harness? Is it on the schematic?

i haven't got it out of the box yet, that will certainly be a must do for me when it gets installed.

You splice into the plug at the heater.. I have the shematic in a drawer with the plug metal pin to put in with my wire. I believe its in position #3 and is a blue signal wire. Supposed to just pull out one of the small rubber plugs in the harness plug to the unit heater and snap in this little connector pin. The signal is 12V+ and engages after the water temp gets up over a certain point. Use that to trip a relay and you should be golden. I am putting in one of those 2 pole relays with one side NC and the other NO. NC is the normal heating circuit, NO for the heater to feed the blower.

all this splicin & cuttin into factory harness-thats why I just bought the kit from Cummins-all connector supplied & bracket pre-fabricated....

Yes, well at the time, a "factory" install harness was(is) not available, much less to fit an older model Chevy.

The pin connector came in the bag with all the other parts I believe ( I didn't do the install) as you have to cut the standard harness to length and put the pins on the connectors after you go through the dash etc. As it looks now, I just have to unplug the harness at the heater, pull the little rubber plug and pop in the pin. Now I just have to find that little pin!

With my install, there is a relay that sends power to the fan when it reaches a certain temp. I just probed the wires out of the PDC until I found which one is the fan control, and just spliced it in. There was no swapping pins or anything on mine.
