Electrical issues yet again...

So the other day I had a bunch of stuff happen, first it was a record hot day and my thermostat seized CLOSED at about 11am. Had to keep working so I babied it and kept it at about 2/3rds on the gauge so like 210-220F
Right before I was about to head home my torque converter started to lock as soon as I hit 2nd gear, and stay locked as if my lockup switch was on. It goes up through the gears fine but it wont downshift unless you come to a complete stop or put it in neutral then straight to 2nd or 1st. Thought it might be a glitch in the PCM so I had it re-flashed but no change.
DRB scanner confirms the solenoid in the VB is working fine. Problem is for some reason the PCM is signalling the torque converter to lock up.
On a side note my overhead temperature display has been way out to lunch since my truck started acting up, it reads anywhere from -4 to 18 when really its 30+ not sure if its related but my truck had a few strange things happen last time I fried the PCM

Anyone have any ideas??? I really have no idea where to start with this one, should I just throw another PCM in it again? What could be killing PCM's in my truck?
Thanks for any help at all with this, like I said I have no ideas left.

Did you confirm the temps with a second gauge? Since everything is going whacko in your truck, I wouldn't trust the dash temp gauge anyhow.

What codes you have on the scanner? Who did the install? How do the connections for the resistor in the wiring harness look? Mines pretty has lots of corrision on it. You could be getting a bad connection on the pcm wires. Worst case buddy, we put in a five speed, but then its that 5 gear issue and the heavy clutch.

Thats the worst part about these trucks. The wires connectors get dirty, salt and abuse. They corrode and damaged. They should have did a better job in that area when they built the truck. I would have designed better connectors that are water proof. Most of the wires are exposed. Fred, do you have any of the wiring drawing for the truck? You could go thru them and see but thats ugly job that no one likes. I would start with measuring supply voltage to the PCM and do a cleaning on the grounds issue as Wink suggested. There is painless automotive that does wiring harness. Dodge still has some stuff available, but the list of stuff is getting shorter.

I have an 01 dodge ecm and engine wiring harness for a manual 5 speed, if you need. but I might need it for my truck.

Well Tate the thermostat was seized when I took it out so I know it was probably getting toasty. As for the Grounds, I cleaned all that I could find last time this happened and also had airdrie chrysler check them out and they were fine, but I'll go do some more cleaning on them just to be safe.
I am really getting sick of this slush box BS, might have to find me a nice NV5600 and a Southbend DD....

Fred, you have a volt meter? You still using that switch to lock-up the converter or doing something different. How did Goeran do the mods on the PCM for their tranny? Is those connection clean? Mine where pretty corrided and needed some TLC. My truck just has a resistor on a few wires.

I have been thinking about swapping in an auto. I only got NV4500 and Southbend FE though. How do you like your Goerend tranny when everything is working correctly?
