Cool keep us posted Daniella. Should be a decent upgrade from tnt. Still have a hard time understanding why anyone likes the S366. Today we put it onto Brett truck. Laggy, but once it lites up its a blast. Been awhile since I seen heavy black smoke like that.

And that sums it up right there why its charms outweigh its downsides for me. But ya, the smoke is a bit much, its kinda embarrassing

Is he running that one you have, the T4 with the 1.10 or so housing?

T4 .91 housing.

A lot less light switch then the SB, and a couple psi less boost (made about 48psi) but also slower to light and spool. With a lot more fuel it could be okay, but if I ever get this truck back on the road it will probably be with twins. I tried to rush it this time as I need to replace a wheel bearing in the wife's car, but with anything I rushed it and it bit me in the ***. Now it will sit until spring again. As at very least the transmission needs to come out again.

I forgot how a 12V still makes power above 3000rpm. Those P7100 pumps rock. Now I want one on my 02, save the injectors rattles for the CR guys. Was a fun afternoon, even though things got a little leaky.

That turbo and a set of Haisley's 5k's would be good fun.

Back to SSR vs EFI Live...

A while ago I posted that with EFI Live one can analyze any other companies aftermarket ECM tunes for the 2006-2007 Dodge Cummins.

Many guys were doing this & could see that the Bully Dog Crazy Larry tunes had cranked rail pressure & timing & that the Smarty tuning was anything but smooth or even logical.

It seemed to me that the aftermarket tuners must not be using any kind of graphical interface to create their tunes. That perhaps they were just manually changing values in tables which is much more difficult.
I also guessed that they might start using EFI Live & EFI Live's 3 dimensional color graphical interface to analyze & improve their own tunes.

Well here is a coincidence! http://www.madselectronics.com/index.html

I'm not bashing Mads nor the Smarty at all. It could very well be a coincidence & it doesn't really matter.
I'm guessing but I'm sure all the Smarty tunes are improved greatly. Perhaps directly or indirectly because of EFI Live..

So true, we have to get things straighten out in your truck. Awesome how well a near stock truck with the right tweaks wakes up. I always like the 98- 215HP fuels. Just waiting on the 13mm SDX race update. Might get your wish. It has 6k haisleys and its benched around 1000'cc at full rack.

Sorry about the thread stealing.

Well I don't have the exact details of the Starlite Diesel EFI Live tune that is now my truck - I think the estimate was that its a 170HP tune. But there is absolutely NO injector rattle and it is virtually SMOKELESS both driving around town and accelerating on the highway. Its amazing! And the power comes on much more smoothly instead of that crazy transition from sunday drive to rocket launch that seems to be characteristic of the SB66. We might try a bit more timing, as my EGTs are up somewhat. But so far I am very impressed. It will be hard to report on mileage till next spring, as its now ESPAR-use season.

Every season is Espar season!

Sounds like you've got a good tune on the truck now. Have you/Steve tried any other tunes on it? Rob Coddens seems to be the EFI guru, wonder how much difference you'd see in a comparable tune.

Ya, I'm really pleased with it. We'll probably tweak it some more but its a great start. I'll report back after I get some actual results - either dyno or track. And Tate, i haven't tried Idaho Robs tunes, but isnt he a duramax guy??. Anyway, this tune seems to fit my purpose, which was to keep the power and be rid of the smoke. I don't need to coax every last HP out of the engine.

Hah, that sure doesn't sound like you Danellia. Glad that EFI has worked out for ya. I sure wish that I could get it for my 2010, EFI sure has lots of potential down the road.

I would also do a boost leak check, it might be a reason for the increase in EGT's.

I know, I know. Lets say the events of the last few months have sobered me up a little, LOL! Plus, I just bought a house and all my $$ will be going to that, so I absolutely cant blow up the engine again right now.

On another random note, my kid and I were singing "We're Off to See the Wizard" and I was struck by the following circular argument:

He does wonderful things because he is Wizard.
Because he does wonderful things, he is a Wizard.

I mean really, who buys this kind of logical fallacy

Thanks for the boost leak tip!

At least you can afford to buy a built RE48 transmission. Forget even pricing out a sorta built RFE68 transmission. Its amazing how much power these engines can make with all the right parts and a decent programmer these days. Been wanting to add some zip to my 2010, but 6.7L is way more pricey than the 5.9L stuff.
