You can always cut it smaller than needed and then use a carbide bit to enlarge it to fit. Make sure you use ear plugs and eye protection.

It was already smaller than I needed. I haven't invested in a good air compressor and air tools yet.

At any rate, it is done.

Electric die grinders work well enough.

Your accident is why I refuse to use a grinder without a gaurd, unless maybe its a flapper disc. Bashing my knuckles and smashing my fingers with hammers (8lb.er on Wednesday) is enough.

Ahhhhhh........ yes, the fine art of "fun" about working on trucks, the mixture of blood, grease, a few choice words, beer (or other), either during or later, a set amount of time after to lick the wounds and heal, the thickheaded mindset that this is all "fun" and we somehow start to look forward to the next project. Do you see something wrong with this picture?
So let's see, my next simple project(s) is to fix the front bumper, should be easy and fun, right, and fix a leaking front axle seal, should be easy and fun, right? Can't wait!

That's what the nasty girls use at the local establishments use to get a guy's undivided attention.

Anyway, I finally found my camera to post the aftermath pics. Doesn't look like much of a change, but proof that they're way better was driving in the snowstorm East of Edmonton X-Mas Eve. Well worth the cut!

Ummmm....after knuckle cutting, the safety guy made me put the guard back on for the other side and working through the tight spots. He was watching over my shoulder.

Thanks for the offer Shane - I'll keep it in mind if i have the need again. I've been watching Craiglist and Kiji, but along with most stores, they want an inflated price. I think I'll wait until I get my GN hitch and upgraded fuel system in first before I look closer to that.

Festus, How did I miss this??....Did you install a new alternator.....that there is alot of power....I like it....Yep, You can't run a guard with a 7" cutting disk on the 4.5" grinder with the guard on....ask my leg that I cut a 4 inch slice into.....and yes I didn't have enough whiskey or tape on hand to fix that one .....but the hospital did...missed the jewels by an inch...the GF didn't think it was funny at all!

Where did you get your lights? I'm shopping trying to keep up with you

I ordered my lights from the states. My home desktop is at the doc's, so I can't give you the link right now - it's on there. Don't keep up! Save some cash. I'm sure if I was married, I wouldn't be as far along as I am. The good thing is I went just about as far as I wanted to go in a short amount of time. So, more time to enjoy it, instead of working on it.

Crap! If you missed this, then the pic below is what I went through to offer up a better way to do the seat mod for members in this https://www.dieseltruckresource.com/...eat+mod&page=3
thread. I guess I do things the hard way.

The real funny thing is that I was on nitrile glove #5 by the time I got to emerg. The triage nurse asked if I could take it off so she could see. I said "sure, got a bucket?" Got a room and the doc saw me right away. Quickest I ever got through emerg. In and out in 45 min. flat.
