That easily could have been just the crazy larry tune,,, I am taking it that it was on a 05. (that is the only year that the crazy larry tune really works on, other years it will show crazy larry, but is only regular extreme)

It adds considerable timing, and if he was towing heavy (probably didnt have a pyro, or didnt watch it) and with all the fuel that it will dump it will easily hit 1900

You just have to luv those crazy big HP tunes

The newer motors seem to have oil swirter/cooler issues. I think that cummins changed the design for the 04-05 engines from the older style. I've even seen stock engines have issues. I've also heard that those crazy tunes/boxes are hard on injectors bodies. The new motor can make big power but they sure can't take the abuse like the older stuff can.I remember towing my RV up some big hills, egt's pinned, coolant temp where pinned as well. I opened the hood at the top of a hill and my exhaust manifold was cherry red. The motor is still good inside and I've over heated it a few times since then. I thought that the truck was gonna burn to the ground , it burnt off my tranny dipstick handle into goo.

Just a question, why the hell would you want to tow with that tune anyway thats just asking for repairs . Just my opinion, plus they tell u not to tow in anything but tow/haul. I cooked my first tranny with the Crazy larry tune, sad day for me. Ever since then no crazy larry for me, extreme is enough!

because they didnt have guages and no one told them any different, is my best guess.

Wink, it can happen in any cylinder. 6 is common due to a lack of cooling,, but all it takes is for the egt's to go up to 17 18 hundred,,, and have a injector stick slightly (which can happen with all the timing that bullydog uses) and carnage... another reason I dont like bullydog... alot of people say that pressure hurts injectors, it is timing that hurts worse. Pressure done right is actually easier on injectors

Kev, hows the monster build going buddy? You have to snap off a few pics for us deprived gearheads at home to drool over. I can't wait to see what comes out of the garage buddy.
