Blew apart both of my Bilstien 5100's.
When I ordered my 3rd gen trackbar from SSI I talked to Russel, and he told be that he had his shocks freeze up as well, froze so bad they would not move, moved his truck back into a heated garage and they thawed out, he said they apparently dont have a oil with low enough viscocity for our low temps. I thought he told me they froze at -35-40C. made me nervous as well, I have bilsteins as well, shocks are holding up fine so far... I believe I've read that they dont warranty any shocks that are longer than stock (just hearsay)
My next set, I want to upgrade up to the next level. I do lots of off highway driving and the shocks seem to help keep the four wheel planted decently. That cali 2.6 suspension kits is the cat meow.
Swamp, you'll have one cool work truck. The 2.6 kit is suppose to have a better ride than factory, almost 1/2ton like.

I put their coils in the front of my truck not to long ago, and those alone helped improved the ride vastly, those with a higher end shock like the 2.65s would make it ride very noice, I know when I have some extra cash after I make 'er go fast I'll be throwin some more carli bling into the front of my rig..
Looks fun! Atleast I got something to look forward to, 1 of my bilsteins is already making a god awful noise on bumps, don't think I got 10,000km on them yet.....I wouldn't buy bilstein shocks again, ever

I'm wating for HRT to get in a set of "hemi" springs from Carli so I can swap them out. apparently some trucks (second gens) dont respond as well to certain spring rates as well as the 3rd gens do.
Moral of the story is I think the KYB(mono max) is a good shock, and for what its worth I got a set of procomps on the rear that were only 60$ each and they have help up fine except for having to replace one set of rubber bushings on one side.
Diesel nut:
I agree the carli springs is a huge improvement in ride (except for the square wheel thing happening) so did they instal "hemi" springs???
Right now I'm driving around with one KYB and one bilstien on the front, reason is somehow I ended up with the wrong Carli springs, so when I hit a pot hole at higher speeds the front end will start hopping like I got a square tire on the drv side, so I stuck the KYB on there and now potholes are more manageable, the kyb has over 100,000kms of intown courior use on them, and to be honest I dont really see that much difference between the 2 brands except for the price (KYB was around 90$ ).

Nickg,
I originally bought my Carli starter kit from Kevin @ HRT. After 3 phone calls on Monday and tuesday without him returning my calls because I also had other issues with my Carli anti sway bar end links I took my business elsewhere. Never did get to talk to him. I called interior off road out of Edmonton around noon yesterday and picked up my shocks 18 hrs later @ FSJ greyhound this morning. HRT seemed to be OK to deal with the 1st time......
