Biodiesel blending in our pumpfuel now?!?!?
I filled up on Tuesday for the first time in 6 weeks, and its got that delicious smell to it. As long as my mileage doesn't plummet (and it seems pretty good even with a fuel leak), I'm happy.
I finally was able to read why trucks and buses where gelling up at only 5 to 10% mix and at 5C...If its not washed really good, those contaments will make the bio jell at a lower temp..The first wash is like milk...after about 4 clean washs, the water clears up..I think I would off blowen my truck up a long time ago,if I didn't wash the heck out of it and dry it for a long time..Maybe thats why I could run my truck at 25% at -20C...Wouldn't recommend it...I still carry Power Service 911 just in case...Haven't been processing as much anymore...Been to busy at work lately..
Diesel Dave would you be willing to tell your secrets for brewing up Bio? I am so interested in it that i would be willing to come down to Calgary to talk to you and if you where willing to show me your set up so i can understand it better.. 1.21 for fuel now.. I'm ready to ride a bloody horse..
Thanks for your time for reading this..
Gerald.

This picture is of Daves Bio Fuel at -40. It is uncut. (on a note the wax did not start to form untill -20deg Cels).
I use to have pictures of it being cut at 5%, 10%, 25%, 50% 75% with diesel but they seem to have gone missing.
I also had pictures of what Power Service treated fuel at the above ratios looked like.
And also what Power Service added directly to the bio fuel looked like.
The Bio cut with the fuel up to 50% seen no noticable changes. It was after 50% that the fuel was forming wax/parrifin at the -40 temp.
With the Power Service and bio on their own mixed at the ratio for regular Diesel use it seemed that the Bio was not as thick as it was without the PS. But it was still more then pourable with or with out the PS.
Most of my testing was done after I got some fuel from Dave a few years ago. It was all pretty much done in my buddys garage in the winter time. We used Refridgerators and outside air temps, allowing the Bio fuel to cool down and stabilze in theses temps.
We also warmed diesel fuel and added the bio to see how it mixed.
Overall his fuel is very stable in temps down to -20cels. And with some cutting with diesel is good down to extreme cold temps.

Deezul got me curious so I went to COOP in Okotoks and sure enough the pumps says "may contain bio deisel". I through $40 in and haven't really noticed any different odor or performance. Maybe I'll run a full tank and see what I get for mileage.
I wonder if it's hit and miss as to which station/s have it and which don't right now? Or if it's like the labelling on the old 7-11 Hogie sandwiches "may contain salami and/or beef" etc!

FYI - i have not seen the signs at fas gas yet . . . .

No Bio yet at Gas Plus off of 23ST NE(next to Kal Tire) that i know of----still paid 111.9 per litre today---kind nice though as the guy was filling his F150 at 121.9 litre was mumbling to himself as he filled it up
.This place is the cheapest so far in the NE and is only a few blocks from work------------Is "Husky" running bio mix yet??????????????.DW
