Appraisal
Appraisal
With all the time and money I put into my truck,I'am starting to think, it maybe a good idea to get it appraised...If this thing every got stolen or written off the black book value maybe around $3500...Any one know of a good appraiser in calgary?Hmm....wonder if I could put it under my vintage insurance...I don't think its old enough...
You'd have to look into it, but around here we have whats called a "agreed" value. I have my boat insured this way. People with big power (usually $30K+ per motor) and other exotic upgrades often opt for this way of insuring.
My boat is insured (agreed value) at $64,500. I'd be lucky to get $40K for it at this point, even considering around $10K in recent motor work and other odds & ends.
Point is, if my property is a TOTAL reconstructive loss, I get a check for the whole amount, no "book" values or other methods of valuation.
In other words, you probably won't need anyone to try to put a value on it, just pay the premium for YOUR "agreed" value.
Works well on RV's and other rapidly depreciating toys also, so as to not end up upside down with a loan on a destroyed item

Here is a better description of the types of insurance offered:
