i've heard about this . . .

I cleaned up the top of the block and let it dry for a while. it looks like it may be coming from #3, but not 100% sure if it was diesel or still pooled water. if it is #3 - that is the line that 'felt funny' when threading it back on . . .

Yea, that one was a ***** to get to start. Try loosening the clamps, undo the nut, clean the faces, tighten the nut again, then the clamps.

No probs Dave, mum thats the good beer.

Tate I just worked on #6 injector. As for the curse, I think I'm one up on it today. Just got my tax refund in.

Affirmative, the faces that make the seal. I didn't look very good, but it seemed to be be mostly on the outside of the taper, not where it matters.

well, if the leak is confirmed from that line, i'll pull it apart and have a look.

any way better than another to 'clean the faces'?

no, not flared. tapered (male taper on the line, and female taper on the connector tube) . . . i think.

i found the culprit. injector line #4 is leaking where it meets the connector tube. now i just need some time to loosen/disconnect the line, clean it up and put it back together. might have to wait till after the weekend . . .

or should i just try to tighten it up a bit before taking it apart?

well, a little while ago i separated the injector line from the connector tube, cleaned it as well as i could, and then re-seated and tightened it back up.

haven't had a drop since then and the top of the block has remained bone dry.

#4 was the culprit, as we suspected, but it's all buttoned up and working well now.

thanx again for the help guys, i'm really enjoying 'mildly modded' truck now!
