Yup, one snag and the only bridge across the Athabasca to millenium halts. Fortunately same thing happened and we were closer to the plant, just turned around and went for coffee.

I like going up to Ft.Mac, it's feels so good to see it in your mirror. You forget how brutal it is there and when you finally get to leave it's such a good feeling.

Tuesdays fatality was a mechanic & no truck, poor planning and short cuts cost a life. Monday a bus accident, 1 fatality, 1 critical - no patience. Sorry Lil Dog just correcting the rumor mill, classic story of people in hurry to go nowhere because they think they can save time and somebody elses money. PK

That is what I see here alot in my short time here. Everyone is in a hurry and takes shortcuts, actually I should correct that, there is some people that are in a hurry and take shortcuts, which then makes it dangerous for the people that dont take shortcuts. All in all so far I am liking it here. But that could change, it will get alot better too once we have a house, Hotel life sucks let me tell you!

P Kennedy, what do you do here, are you around town much, if have time it would be good to catch up sometime over a beverage!

Well, if you ever need anything when going through Wandering River, let me know. Good luck in Fort Mac, heaven knows there is money to be made there, if a person can put up with all the B.S.

hey glad to see ya make it up here. Wouldn't mind sneaking a peak at that rig of yours one day.
Anyway first off i complain about this place myself at times, but then again what person doesn't have a gripe about where they live at one time or another. It seems that since we get all this attention because of the oilsands, everybody wants to take a cheapshot to get their name in print, sell a few papers. Just imagine 40,000 people trying to get from Leduc to Edmonton and you have to be there by 8:00. Everyday. You would have your share of mishaps and fools on the road also. We also have a lot of people from out of town working here, so some of these people who give this town a bad rep. are indeed not from here. Thurs. night 500. Mostly out of towners going home for a 3 day weekend. Yes i know that some of them are from here, but the majority on a Thurs. aren't. If you really dislike it so much don't come back. Leave the money that you would make here, and maybe it will contribute to help build the place better. Compare it to when Dell shut it's doors down in EDm. to go else ware. Lost jobs, income, taxes all gone from EDM. Well every THURS. it happens here, workers from all over Canada leave, take their paychecks and go home. Not alot get's left here to help out our economy. You don't allways get the good press either. last year we raised $3.9 million for the united way. Do you remember reading about that. Lead all of Canada in per cap. There's many other stories also. I didn't want to come off sounding like a cheerleader, i have my dislikes too, but i get tired of hearing about i was up here for a day and seen this or that. You can do that with any town/city.
Man did i every fly off the handle. Sorry to all and back to the original topic. I think you will like it here, it has it's ups and downs. Hopefully one day i will get to have a look at that rig of yours. Oh and by the way Welcome to MAC.

Sorry If we hit a chord.. The traffic is nutz, but like you said, its a large amount of people trying to get to the gates for 7:30. I am one of those rental-one time here-drivers, but its by the hour, why rush?

But even flying back into Calgary, it was me and one other guy getting our bags at the luggage carousel from a full plane.. Everyone was connecting to go somewhere out of AB..

Well I have only been here for around 10 days, but I dont mind it. The weather is great, bugs are light, no wind. There are problems here, like there is in any boomtown, but they are liveable. I wish that there was race track here, but there isnt, so off to edmonton to race now I guess. The hardest part for me so far is being away from my friends.

I was in FT Mac back in about 77. There was the annual summer beer strike on. So an iron worker was on a building and he seen a beer truck come to the vendors. He shouted as loud as he could, there is a beer truck in town. Just like that there was a wave of people running across town to the vendors. I mean people stopped doing what they where doing and just ran for the liquor vendors.
