12 valve pushrod cover?
Anybody got a spare 12 valve pushrod cover kicking around that they want to sell? I am getting ready to drop the new-to-me motor in my '01-and after cleaning the coolers of all the mung I am not reusing the front-mount breather setup again. 12 valve would be the cleanest way to go-and this looks to be the time to do it with the motor on the shop floor.
Thanks
Jason

Went with Plan B-breather in the valve cover 'ala the other forum with the same initials . Went pretty good-hopefully it works as well. Motor should have a new home sometime later this week.

Did you do dual breathers, or just a single? How was the pricing on them? Wish they had something like those for the 24v, so I could lose the puke tube.

Hey J-what's going on? Hopefully.....and I've been saying this for the last 6 weeks.....the truck will be rolling again after my next days off. I have a pile of little stuff to fix after it is mobile again-but theoretically now it will be retired to a life of semi-leisure pulling trailers and doing spare truck duty when the snow/mud is too deep or the Dakota craps out....if something isn't right when I twist the key again, all bets are off as to its survival as I am severely stressed by this whole project.....
Tate-this is a 24 valve....single breather in the valve cover similar to an ISX motor. The original guy that did it used a GM breather setup-I stole one off a 360 that I had out back. The outlet of the breather assembly is exactly the same diameter as the 24 valve breather in the front cover. I used the molded elbow off said 360 to get pointed downwards-then siliconed it into a piece of 1" plastic gas line that drops down to sump level with a nice backwards cut in it just like the original road draft tubes. The originator-and others that followed him-have had no troubles with crankcase pressure or oil loss with the same basic setup. Here's hoping that I have the same luck. I'm sure if you were worried about crankcase pressure you could do another in the front of the cover-I'm reasonably confident after comparing diameters etc. that this will vent as good as the stock setup. PM me if you want a link to the thread to see for yourself-I'm not sure that I'll be a popular fella if I post it up on here.
