4x4 front hub socket

i read a post around one of the forums about a purchased socket not working. OTC has tool number 7157. Will this tool work? It is labeled "Chrysler" on the description for the socket. The other 4 on the catalog are for specific ford and gmc.

any other tool number that will work for my 91 4x4 W350 Dually(4500# axle)??

did you read this https://www.dieseltruckresource.com/...0&postcount=11? I don't think the OTC 7157 will work it is not large enough. I got my CTA socket from my local auto parts store. A blunt chisel works if the nut was not put on to tight from the person that was in there last. The chisel works but the socket is much better.

Based off of the pictures of the nut in BC847's thread from the sticky about 4x4 front wheel bearings, I believe this socket is what your looking for.

okay i think you are correct about 7158 being the proper one. all thought the description is a tad confusing. it does say dana 60 front axle. the 7157 only claims to do dodge 1/2 tons

i can order the otc 7158 from G2S for $26.95 cdn.

Got mine at NAPA. KD 3246. Worked best with impact wrench. I tried to find the CTA locally and order online with no luck.

The one I bought specifically said "For Ford Dana 50/60 axles". Works fine.

its only suppose to be on there with 25 foot pounds and then backed off a quarter turn. What is the purpose of the impact?

Correct. That is the part number called out in the FSM for these trucks. I bought mine from the dealer. I think it was like 30 bucks

The first one is a D44 socket. The 2nd one is a D60 socket, the one you need.
