Pros and cons about the 2010
That likely explains it! And with the hitch thrown in too, you got an even better deal!
Scotty, I just bought a new 10 laramie for $63k with everything you can get. I got almost $10k off the sticker price and got a good price on my trade in. The dealer here in C town was way behind on their sales for March and had tons of inventory of trucks. Its still more money than last year truck that I ordered for $53k (got cancelled by Dodge), but at least I have a new dodge to drive instead of that ford or toyota junk. The new dodge is a nice truck, hopefully its as good as my 02 ctd ride.
I just kept bugging the sales manager for pricing and did the old switching trucks back forth.

They are dealing right now. The dealer and I beat on each other for 2 weeks before we made a deal. My truck stickered for $48,500 plus dealer installed bedliner and tinted glass. Ended up getting it for $37,800 and they gave me over book value on my '08 GMC that I traded in.
I accept:
1. Do your research on the Dodge website. Get an exact build of the truck you want. Ask around about options you have questions on and decide if they are worth paying for.
2. Pick the five to ten closest Dodge dealerships to you and write down all their numbers.
3. Visit one dealership and get a quote. Make them print out the "MANUFACTURER'S INVOICE". That EXACT phrase is important. This sheet shows you MSRP for each option and also what it actually costs. If they won't give it to you or claim its on the window, then be ready to leave to the next dealership until you get it.
4. Call the next dealership on your list and say "Bob at Smithville Dodge is going to order me this truck for this price. Tell me why I should have yall order for me instead." Give the all the exact options for your build and have them make you and offer. Obviously they will try to beat the first price by a little bit. Get their price and tell them you will contact them later.
5. Repeat step 4 for the rest of the dealerships, and then go through them all again and again. Some of them will get tired of you and tell you not to call back. Be prepared to ask to talk to a manager. Eventually you will hit a really low price that no one will be willing to beat. It will be a few thousand above the manufacturer's invoice price (they have to make SOME profit). I did this in 2007 (before all the crazy rebates came out) and got a brand new truck for $9000 off.

My experience is that they are selling these trucks (2500HD Cummins) at manufacturers invoice (minus the rebates) without going through all the gyrations. The good dealers seem to be OK with making their profit from the holdback amount, etc.
