Finally drove a 2010, pros and cons
Finally drove a 2010, pros and cons
It was an SLT Crew 4x4, pretty much optioned the same as my current truck but with a few extras that weren't available then: integrated brake controller, exhaust brake, extra storage in the floor, etc..
The good: less road/wind noise, more rear passenger leg room, sits higher? Interior a little nicer, tight steering (my ball joints are probably on their way out again), the 6-speed transmission w/manual mode and the exhaust brake. Much better ride than mine- even with recently installed new shocks.
The bad: I like the view over the hood better in the '03, I like the cruise control buttons on the steering wheel better. The 2010's check engine light was already on (have NEVER got a CEL in my '03 in 80,000 miles).
The really bad: They quoted me $45,500 + TTL (MSRP is $51k) and only $12k trade-in for mine (had to ask just about the trade for the fun of it- but that's just depressing). I paid about $28k new for my '03, is the 2010 really a $18,000 better vehicle? Not sure, but I've got it listed in the classifieds locally for $19,500, no calls yet. I guess I'll be keeping it a little longer.

i dont think that it is worth that much more. i love the new additions but it is not that much more work for the extras. i am an I&E tech and control systems programmer and to add all of the extra things that they charge extra for is not that much work. thats just my opinion.
i looked at one last night. I like the new style alot but a decently equiped diesel msrp's at 50k vs my 07 5.9 was 44k msrp. its not worth the money to upgrade, plus i like my current truck too much to get rid of her. plus the crew cab is too big for me i like the quad cab better. can you still get the quad?
The truck that i bought they called a loaded slt. it also has the big horn package. from what i can tell the only difference in mine and a laramie is the leather seats, wood grain and dual climate control. msrp was 53 and change and with the rebaits i picked it up for 46k but then i added another thousand by adding running boards and remote start. as for as getting a quad i dont think they are making them anymore.
Only in the 1/2 ton. I asked the dealer why they still sold both the crew and quad in the 1/2 ton and he said they've actually sold more quads than crews because more people want the 6' bed than the extra leg room in the back seat.
Also, according to the dealer (and we all know to take that with a grain of salt) all HDs are build in Saltillo now, only the 1/2 ton quads are made in St. Louis.
