From that calculation the max HP would be near 75 hp.


I guess I got confused with the new engines, Like Mack that have 550 hp rating and a 400hp exhaust/engine brake system.

No, I don't think you read anything wrong. Cummins is claiming an exhaust brake capable of generating 220 HP. My point is that they have to be either making a mistake or including more than the exhaust brake in their calculations.

what ever the Braking HP of the 6.7 cummins is. To me it is amazing how fast it can slow down a 40K load on a grade.

On dry pavment if you start downshifting in second gear the tires will slide with no load

I'm not complaining.. Most reviews on the Cummins EB have shown it to be the only one that could hold back the test load of 10K without touching the brakes down a 6% grade. And I have done it myself with my TT through the mountain passes in B.C. Lots of people behind just think your brake lights don't work but its nice not to even touch the pedal unless you need brakes for a corner or something without them already being hot.
