My impressions on 2010
I was finally able to pick the truck up two weeks ago, I meant to get on here sooner. I know this kind of thread has been done many times but here are my few cents on the truck, to hopefully be able to help someone who is considering buying one.
First of all its the first diesel I have owned, I drove many powerstrokes growing up on my dads ranch, as well as when i was home on leave two months ago I drove the hell out of my brothers powerstroke. So when I wanted a diesel I didn't have to go test drive any Fords i already had and was unimpressed.
I decided on the Mega shortbed Laramie 6 speed manual 3.42s, most options, except the stupid ones, like sunroof. The build date to me putting my butt in the seat and driving date was 76 days. All the controls and buttons were as stated on here before, are really user friendly. the only thing that is a bit confusing is the media center and the U connect phone deal, but if you listen to the class from the dealer on usage you'll be good.
Fuel milage so far in town is averaging 15.5 and highway 19.1 thats according to the display in the instrument cluster. but over all in the first 800 miles I have averaged 17 thats about 50/50 town, highway driving.
The overall ride is smooth and the comfort of seats and all is outstanding. Not entirely impressed with the location of my primary cup holder but it fits my favorite coffee mug like a glove.
Did notice a small wind hiss on the driver door and a bit of a rattle on the passenger front door when ever i would hit a pothole or bump. A five minute adjustment at the dealership and both are now fixed.
I cannot find my plug in cord for the block heater, not that I need it in NC in april but would like to find it.
The only modifications was a ten dollar "no fat chicks" decal on the back window. And it works like a charm. I realized this after picking up 6 young unfat ladies from the beach, and watching them do things to each other in the back seat that just might be illegal in some states but is pure fun to watch(so glad I had the megacab). As much as I would like to take credit for that I know it was the truck and decal. So if your a 22 year old guy like me, the chick magnet factor is there when driving one of these trucks.
Besides EDIT i also hauled 1300 lbs of mulch last weekend and the truck handled it well, didn't "squat" the truck at all. also pulled out a decent sized tree stump, once again no issues.
I know this isn't the in depth fact sheet review that most could give, but my opions on the vehicle. Great truck, puts a smile on my face everytime I get in it. No serious complaints yet.
