Industrial Topper Installed
My truck is a work truck first - play second.
It spends a lot of time on dirt / gravel roads (10 miles of backroads to get to my house, building in the “boonies”, and fishing in the backcountry.) I've tried lots of different toppers - this one works.
Fiberglass eventually cracks from the stress and it is very hard to insulate for those cold mountain nights.
This topper is built of 1” square aluminum TIG welded. I wanted cab height with a slight raise in rear. And about the same width as truck. So I don't have a big hit on fuel economy.
I have the double doors for good access when I'm loading building materials. Each side “door” lifts up and has two screened windows.
I had the factory weld in extra gussets for greater strength and to resist the twisting and stress of back roads.
Also I added a 3/8 inch piece of rubber between the bed rail caps and the topper. The rubber absorbs some of the shock and reduces the stress on the topper.
The tail gate stays off. So I'll do a post when I relocate the backup camera.
Cheers

Thanks Gry113500 for compliment.
Yes welds are ugly. Topper made by UNICOVER in Britt Iowa. I had to send it back to factory to get the extra welds. Ugly, but it is holding together. Some welds will be covered up when I complete the insulating and finishing.
Cheers

Looks well built, aside from the mediocre welding. From what I can see its acceptable, just not pretty.
Ill take strength over beauty anyday when it comes to welding.
Looks utilitarian, but still fits nicely with the truck. I like it!
