which E rated tire
which E rated tire
I finally decided to go back to the stock wheels on my 2010 mega, but want to go with a bigger 17"tire. looking at either 285/75R17 or 285/70R17 E rated
If i go with the 75 series I am pretty much limited to toyo or nitto which i would probably go with the AT, but i have heard a lot of bad things about tire wear.
If i go with the 70 series i would have more choices.
What are pros/cons of 75 vs 70 and is anyone running toyo or nittos
any input is appreciated!
thanks,
nathan

My 06 Mega cab had 315 Nitto TGs and they had 40,000 + on them before I traded it in and they still had a lot of life left. I also towed a big 5th wheel camper with them for alomost three years.
I'm a fan of Nittos, great tread life when ever I've used them.

From: Castle Rock, WA....when I'm actually there.
I've got a set of the new Crosstek HD (285/70) ordered. I'll let you know.
How aggressive v. mileage of a tire do you want?
I got over 50k out of my BFG AT KO in the same size

305/75r17, 34" tall, 3640 pounds at 65 psi, that sounds like an option eh Dave?
I've heard mixed reviews of the TG tread life though.

Nitto Dura Grappler 285-70-17E having a weight rating of 3,750. Also had them on my last truck. Great for towing a 5th-wheel camper with a heavy pin weight (approx 3,500 lbs). I can get about 50,000 miles on a set if rotated every 10,000 miles.
I'm with SOhappy above. I got Hankooks in 285 and while I don't have a lot of miles on them they have been fabulous in the snow and ice. And they have a 50k warranty. And over 3750lb load rating. And they balanced with little weight. And they were the least expensive AT tire.
I think the gearing the 285/70's provide is just right for our trucks too. JMO.
