Different Offset on Gen 4 wheels

Heads up: The 18" wheels that come on the newer trucks have a high offset and won't work properly on trucks that came original with 17" wheels.

17 X 8 = +43.18 offset
18 X 8 = +57.15 offset

So that makes the truck narrower by 13.97mm (0.55") per side. Not cool.

I want to run 18" wheels for tire selection and I really like the look of the new wheels so I picked up a set used with 275/70-18 tires. All my research said this would work. Bolt pattern and center hole are identical so they bolt on just fine. No rubbing anywhere and they worked OK, I'm just not comfortable making the truck narrower so now I've got a extra set of Dodge 18 X 8 wheels .....

That's too bad. I really liked those wheels. (see attached - on rear)

When I was still thinking of upgrading my 2011 to a 2014 the wheel size changed from 18 inch to 17 inch if you changed the axle ratio so the factory was installing both sizes on the same axle..

Interesting-- I have 17" currently, but picked up a set of 20" from a guy that got a 2014 3/4 ton. Haven't mounted them yet, but intend to do so in the next few weeks. Am curious if they have a different offset like the 18's. Even if they do, I'm not going to worry about basically a 1/2 inch difference.

The size & offset should be stamped on them somewhere. I'd be curious to hear how it turns out for you.

My donor wheels came off of a 1 ton so the difference might be there and not in the year. I can't see Dodge making the track width narrower, so is it possible some models have wider axle assemblies?

Got the 20's installed on my 2012 this a.m. They came from a 2014 2500. They fit great and no noticeable difference from the 17 in. stock wheel that came on the truck. I didn't try to find the offset info however.

The 20's also have a mid 50's offset. I saw it stamped on my oem wheels when they were pulled off.

Going to do the same wheel upgrade on mine. 1/2 inch difference isn't enough for me to lose any sleep over.
