Brake lights not working
Hey, I replaced my evaporator core on 2010 Dodge Ram 2500 6.7 liter diesel. I had to unplug brake light switch. I could not get brake lights to come on after I put switch back in. All other lights and turn signals work. Later that day, brake lights came on and would not go off. I fooled with it again and get it working correctly. Then that night they quit and would not come on at all. I ordered and put in a new brake light switch. The plunger was longer and made a clicking sound when I released the brake pedal, thus compressing the plunger. It had the same part number but still no brake lights. It must not be put in correctly. Can anyone give more some more details? I lined up the slot and turned it clockwise 30 degrees until it clicked. This was the only way I could get it to stay in there.

Brake lights work when key is on. Are they only supposed to work with the key on? Surely not.

It wouldn't work at all by hand or in truck with the key off. The dodge customer service lady looked it up and told me that the brake lights are only supposed to work with the key in the ON position. I found that the 2016 models will work with the key off. They must have realized this was a dumb idea not to have brake lights work with the key off.
