Backup Camera Relocation

Backup Camera Relocation
We are waiting for delivery of our new 3500 longbox Laramie ( in white ). It is replacing our 2004 dually. We will be using a " spacekap" slide in canopy which requires removal of the tailgate.
Does anyone know if I can remove the backup camera from the tailgate of this new truck and relocate it to my canopy? I will have a lot of flexibility as to relocation location.
Thanks in advance for any responses.

I can't guarantee these part numbers will work on your 2017---but it might get you in the ballpark :
56038978AG camera rear view
68189124AB wiring tailgate
68224929AA wiring jumper
The above numbers allow you to keep your OEM stuff in your tailgate. That way---it's unmolested when you get ready to re-install it. The above numbers should also be plug-and-play. No cutting, splicing, or soldering.
If the tailgate wiring is not long enough for your proposed mounting site, you might have to go with a harness from a Cab & Chassis application. It will most likely require cutting & splicing & soldering though.

Just a plain ole guy
When I added my camera (aftermarket) there was a spot in the tailgate handle for it. I would think you can just take off the cover and reach in and pop that camera out of the handle and get a drill bit that size and make your own bracket for it to fit anywhere. Certainly worth opening the tailgate cover for a quick look.
